Ok so Im finally getting around to posting my YZ build. Ive been wanting to for awhile figured now was a good time of year to do it.
So here goes.
I started with 2005 yz250. I've had this bike since day one. Around 2010 I put a Eric Gorr 295 kit ported mid to top, 50/50 race gas @5000' in it. It ran great was a very fun machine.

Then around 2014 she went into storage and never returned

Then in spring of 2017 I finally snowchecked a timbersled aro 120 and decided I was going to throw it on the ol YZ.

So I pulled it out of storage and decided to tear it down. I tore the motor out sent the jug and crank back to Gorr. Talking with him I decided I wanted the most reliable hp I could get out of his 295, and to recut the head for a 50/50 race gas mix @6000' and to rebuild and balance the crank. Since I had the cases split I rebuilt the tranny while we were there.
Then as I had a bare bike to stare at, I thought it's a going to b a snow bike I could powdercoat the frame and clamps. Then I thought if I ever put it back too dirt bike it's all gotta be coated haha.

Then we slowly started putting it back together.

I also had the pipe and silencer ceramic coated. I added a cast 38mm SmartCarb with avid carb heater and thermostat. I have been extremly impressed with the smart carb. I put it on last fall rode and tuned it in the sand dunes, and I've rode it from there over 10,000' in freezing temps to 100° summer heat. It never misses a beat crisp and clean all the time. No adjustments either.
The forks already had a Race Tech desert valve job. So I decided to try the Airpro on the forks. I usually ran between 10 and 15 lbs the bike handled great and never bottomed out. The first couple rides I had some ice and frost form on the lower fork tubes. This would cause the fork seals to leak a tiny bit and lose some air pressure. So I took the forks over to Andy at Gas Shock Repair and slapped some heavy duty seals and scrapers in em. Never had another problem the rest of the season.
I decided to make a air filter. I took a no toil wash cover, made it a skeleton, and glued some prefilter over it. Worked great.

I rode this bike all winter and loved it the entire time. Never had any hiccups, problems, or wished for a different bike. And Gorrs 295 mated with the smart carb flat out screams!

Finally got a sticker kit made for it and the timbersled. Showed up last night. Stuck a couple before bed. I'll get more pics when done.

Looks awesome. Looking forward to seeing the complete wrap installed. Are you going to do some green powdercoating on the skid as well?
