Unported...remove every other track clip (3-5 lbs savings depending on length of track) and remove the clips BETWEEN the paddles...at most...adding a 1.25" hole down the middle for snow evac...thats it..IMHO-BJ

That's exactly what I did, also removed the inner rows of nubs, lost over 4 lbs. on my 162. Key word here....BETWEEN....if you remove the clips on the paddles you will be putting them back on and buying new sliders too.......been there done that one once upon a time lol! I port for rolling resistance as well.

My 09 ported costed me 3K. I ran over a small patch of spruce in January and one came through a port and took out the whole skid - rails, braces, swing arms, rear axle, track - had to replace all. I have an 06 track on my 05 and never have had an issue and it works well but will never own a ported track again due to the above.

What size where you thinking?? 1"??? makes sense to me. I know the same sled side by side, the stocker with the ported 08 track pulls around WAY easier vs the 3". 3" seems to skid across the floor. May also reduce heat and allow for more snow to enter the skid to cool hyfax

fredw-noticed the missing paddle on your 3" track, looks just like the 2.5 Camo Xtreme on my boys sled, next ride it was another paddle and all the rubber to the next paddle. Good luck!:face-icon-small-win

Your correct about the removal over the paddles causes more wear, Whats interesting is the 2012 Poo comes stock this way and on the first ride out there was noticeable wear and hyfax smell

My 174 16 2.5. My porting took 6 lbs off my track... Smaller holes doesnt let snow in. Cut the corners off the outer lugs... No wear issues. Great track speed, for a 174. Makes the lugs softer for the DEEEP snow.. I have enough flotation with the 174.

Not any draw backs yet.. Some where between 4 and 6 lbs off...
