COLORADO-BLM Extends Comments Deadline for Colorado River Valley Draft RMP/EIS
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Colorado River Valley Field Office has announced that they have extended the public comment period on its draft Colorado River Valley Resource Management Plan (RMP) until January 17, 2012. The Draft RMP was released for a 90-day public comment period on September 15, 2011. This comment period was set to end December 15, 2011. The BLM has extended the deadline to give the public additional time to review the detailed, complex draft.
This land use plan will provide the management direction for the next two decades covering all aspects of BLM land and mineral management within the Colorado River Valley Field Office boundaries, including recreation, travel management, energy development, resource protection, wildlife habitat, urban interface, special designations, grazing and realty actions.
The draft plan analyzes four alternatives detailing a wide range of possible management direction. Public comments on the draft plans will be used as BLM develops the final plan, which is scheduled to be released in 2012.
The neighboring Kremmling Field Office released a Draft RMP electronically for public review also on September 15, 2011, although it did not begin the official 90-day period until paper copies of the plan were available in October. The comment period for that Draft RMP continues to end on January 17, 2012.
For additional information, including how to provide comments or to obtain a copy of either Draft RMP, visit http://www.blm.gov/co/st/en/BLM_Programs/land_use_planning/rmp/kfo-gsfo.html.
