Extended Season At Tollgate

FYI : POSTED ON TRAIL FINDERS WEB SITE 3/18/08

IT'S OFFICIAL !
SNOWMOBILE SEASON HAS BEEN EXTENDED !!!

The Forestry Department has agreed to extend our snowmobile season
through April 18th. This is a trial extension, intended to see just how the
snowmobilers and 4X4 off-road vehicles can get along together on the roads.

SNOWMOBILES MUST GIVE RIGHT-OF-WAY TO 4X4'S...!!!
The forest roads will be SHARED (snowmobiles and 4X4's) from April 1 through
the 18th. Trails will be groomed starting April 7th...during the week only. Off-road
travel on snowmobiles will be allowed. Off-road travel by 4X4's will NOT be allowed.

SNOWMOBILERS: Enjoy this rare opportunity. Cooperate with the 4X4's and get
along with them. Understand that the major roads will often be deeply rutted by
the 4X4's...try to ride other trails when you can.

THANK YOU GORDON BYRNES, FOR ARRANGING THIS FOR US.

So here's a chance to ride the Tollgate area for a couple more weeks.
Pretty cool, huh?

Extended?

Sombody got their wires crossed.....

MR. LARRY RANDALL OF THE US FOREST SERVICE CALLED. SEEMS WE GOT IT WRONG. THE SEASON HAS BEEN EXTENDED, BUT... THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS YEAR AND ANY OTHER YEAR IS THAT THE GROOMER CAN RUN UNTIL APRIL 18.

YOU CAN NOT RIDE ANYWHERE YOU WANT TO

YOU CAN NOT RIDE OFF OF THE MAIN FOREST ROADS

YOU CAN NOT RIDE ON ANY CLOSED ROADS

YOU MUST STAY ON "NORMALLY" OPEN FOREST ROADS

SORRY FOR THE MIX-UP

That's a Big Fuzzy Duck !!

Grooming for the 4/4's make no sense to me. It's a waste of your $'s .

By the way, my son, his girl friend and I were up there to- day & met the groomer on a corner on the wrong side of the trail coming at us, what's with that can some one anwser that for me? She was a 1st time rider, what a way to set a good example.

as far as grooming the opposite way on the trail I am guessing it has something to do with trying to get some set up time on the fresh groom.
I am sure I will get flamed for this but as far as the "extended season" goes, I will ride where I want on public land!!

With as much snow as we have it will be Memorial Weekend before the snow is gone possibly longer. Hopefully, we can prove to the forest service that we can get along with the 4x4s and can have a longer season every year. The closure should be based on lack of snow not what the calendar says.
