Would it work on a 16 with the drop and rolled chaincase?
Could you reuse the shocks from a 153 sno pro (float 3 and fox spring front track shock) on the 154 kit?
I’m assuming rts would work but not the fts..

Looking at the picture of the skid, it looks like the remote reservoir faces rearward on the Alpha skid. While the reservoir on the front shock is mounted more off to the side on a 18 MC.

If so, I wonder if Cat will have a rearward shock mounting section available so that you can just send your existing 18 MC shock in to have it converted over?

May be cheaper to upgrade skid than trade in.......

Looks like it would be pretty hard to knock the track out of alignment with those clips.

I’m sure someone will manage to do it though...lol!

Does anyone know if this track could be used on a regular Mountain cat? I’m curious because a few people that have ridden the alpha really liked the track. They felt like it got up on the snow better than the current powerclaw.

No clips or windows for regular skid. But it’s probably a safe bet a 3.5 PC for traditional skids is coming.

This track will only work on the Alpha mono rail skid. It is not compatible with 2 rail skids.

Maybe if you have a way to punch new windows and then install your own clips you could make it work. Problem is then you have some large holes down the center where you'd loose some flotation. Probably wouldn't be worth the effort. Fitting up a 3.5 pitch 280 would be pretty close I think.

Looking at the photo above of the track I have to ask why Cat would clip this track every other window instead fully clipping it? With it being clipped every other window is this track going to show the wear on the track under the paddle/lug that has no clip similar to what some of the Polaris guys are seeing on their tracks?

I keep reading that you MUST have the dropped chain case to use this skid? Why is that exactly? Just clearance? We all know a 3" paddle will fit on the non dropped case, and from my understanding the new driver is roughly the same size diameter as the old drivers. So is there some other specific reason one couldn't put this in a 16 or older pc? Asking mostly out of curiosity

I am sure guys will try it, but probably it is not recommended due to rail angle and the results in how well it works without dropped case may be disappointing to some.

Aren't they using 8 tooth 3.5" pitch? A 3" barely clears with 8 tooth 3.0" pitch so it isn't going to fit if that's the case

7tooth 3.5 pitch has a diameter of 3/8"+ larger than the current 8tooth. I don't think the track will clear the heat exchange.

If the math I seen on another page was correct, there is less than 3/16" difference between 7 tooth 3.5" pitch and 8 tooth 3" pitch. so there's not a huge difference, but if the 3" track is already tight with the 8 tooth 3" pitchers, that 3/16" might be enough to cause issues.

Current 8tooth cat driver is actually ~2.89" pitch not 3". The current 7 tooth driver is actually 3" pitch.
Without the new 7tooth 3.5 pitch driver in my hand, i have to assume the driver is actually 3.5"

Here is a pic of a 3" claw on a 2014 with 8 tooth drivers.
Current 3" PC is not a full 3". The new 3" PC may be a full 3" also?

Ya, lots of possible variables.

However, nobody will be ordering one any time soon because country cat just updated their post to say cat has just informed them that no alpha conversions will be available any time soon because of the huge number of alpha 1 snowmobiles being snow checked.
