We have a 98 583 apart. The case halves were split, cleaned and now back together without making any reference marks for the rotary valve. oops.

Without starting over and splitting the case halves again, is there a way to find the right location if we do not have a degree wheel?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

If i remember.......Mag piston top dead center. Align the rotary valve to the marks that should be on the face of the block. Flip valve to see which side fits the best. Make a degree wheel on some paper with a protractor. You only have to mark where 0 is and the area you need for the rotory timing. Cut a hole in the paper to fit over the gear.
