John,
He is not alone. Something odd happenes over 10000 feet on the 860s. They get very rich at idle and slow speeds under 5000 rpms. I have fouled plugs myself.
After riding and going downhill past 9000 feet its fine. Im going to try a smaller PJ the next time out. ( mixture screws at 1 turn out now )

Keith

missed your call today, I'll catch you tommorrow, lost my cell in the snow this weekend --to many BL's maybe?
tested the solenoid (dpm manifold) with a 9volt batt and it was working ( blew air in end (no power-no air, power- air threw end)
took it to the dealer and checked for codes = no codes present
tested rave valve relay = clicked like it was fine
pulled rave valve caps = they move free
unplugged every electrical connection that could be found = same
had dealer check throttle position sensors = 5% to 95.5% in spec
pulled head of last night ( rule out something coming apart)= pistons and walls looked good
was riding at togwotee guage said 9000' at time of fouling -- 10400' was the high of the day 8850' the low
temp was around 20'
I can't remember the last time I have rode below 8400'
Theory---- was leading the gals back to the truck ( one had wet feet to her knees from first creek experience)
traveling at or around 6000 rpms for about 2miles --fouled plugs
changed to new plugs ---- 1/4 mile of trail -- started dumping a cylinder so I started romping on it-- didn't seem to help-- flipped the choke on while under full throttle(thought maybe plugged pilot) made it worse
do you think that there was enough fuel left from first foul that it killed second set -- I was close enough by this time that i just stuffed it in the trailer-- I hope all this is from puzzy footin around-- the girls are on their own from now on- lol

forgot to add that until plugs fouled-- machine idled around 2200 rpm
now Idles round 1400-1500

Thats excessive,More than just rich, I would start by checking to see if pilot and main jet is tight and also that needle clip/retainer was installed correctly. You need to eliminate these first

I have never fouled plugs on mine, but she does get a little blubbery if I stay below 6,000 rpm for too long. 470's and .030 shim @9,500-11,000 ft.

SHR 860, 14.7:1 head, pur/pur primary spring, 15grams, 413 ramps, 43-47 helix, pur secondary spring on clicker 3 and 4 in the snowies. Seems to work pretty good. Only complaint, takes too long to get the revs up to 8200.
