Just wondering about updated conditions. Thinking of coming Monday. Probably unload at trailshead and wondering which direction is best snow at this time?

Better snow central and South. No problems getting to Spearfish Canyon or Recreational Springs, Thin into Lead and Deadwood. More snow predicted tomorrow and tomorrow night. Bitter cold on Monday.

Took the M7 for a quick ride this morning before work. Plenty of over the hood powder. I made the rookie mistake of being sucked into a culvert. The sno-Bunji and ratchet rope is a valuable tool to get out of bad spots especially if riding alone.

Rode today from spearfish canyon west to 3 then south to trailshead, the meadow were really good in the morning plenty deep but no base. After dinner rode 1 to 8 to 2 to 6 to 4. Trails were awesome nice snow in the play areas especially as you headed south. Met up with my brother in law who came from mystic.cabins. said tail 7 was really thin got better once they got west of Dumont lot about 5 miles.

Rode from the South Ditch Creek lot this weekend and was actually surprised with how much snow there was on the southern end of the trail system. Rode up Trail 1, then cut across 8 to 2, then down 2 to Deerfield and eventually the Ditch Creek lot. Trails were in great shape, off trail was decent, and found good snow to play in at several places. Getting into Mountain Meadows was good and they were packed Sat afternoon.
The first pic was taken on the Ditch Creek trail spur and the second was taken on the east end of Trail 8.

Snow is still holding good especially central and South. Some thin and bare spots as you get close to Lead and Deadwood. Good going into Rec Springs, Spearfish Canyon, Dumont, Mountain Meadow, Cement Ridge and Big Hill. Best snow is still central and South. 2-4 inches last night central and South. Currently snowing and blowing here at Hardy. Hard to see the highway from the cabin.

I looked at the data from the Blind Park SNOTEL site and compared current snow depth to past years depths. The snow depth is currently above average based on the available data. Current depth is at 20 inches. Average of the 15 years of available data for this date is 17.8 inches. The low year was 2016 at 11 inches and the high year was 30 inches in 2009.

From Friday. Trails are great. Suggest staying north of Trailshead just because there's more snow. Meadows with no tracks are fun if you're tooling around with the family and looking for a good time.

Hopefully temps hold and we can add to this soon!

Sorry the pics are crappy quality. SW sucks and makes them be sh*tty small file size b/c they're living in 2005.

Just finished up a 2 day trip. Trails were excellent. Groomed to perfection and good snow pack. A big thanks to the guys taking care of the trails! Some of the best trail riding I've experienced. Only trail area we found with bare spots was on way up 2F to the overlook. But still not terrible. Found some ok snow in trees SW of the overlook. Need to use extreme caution as lots of stumps and trees jump up and bite ya.
Day 2 we played off of #5 and power lines and found some decent riding in some areas. Trees where still dangerous here as well but maybe a little better than down south by 2.
This was my first trip to black hills for riding. Even with the snow conditions it was a great trip with great friends! Will be making plans for return trip! 2 days doesnt even scratch the available riding areas here.
