Has anyone had a chance to get some miles on the new Gates carbon belt for the Axys- how is it performing?

I've got about 100 miles on the new Carbon Gates 45C.... $114. To be honest I'm not really impressed. Seems to hit 8,200 to 8,300 when not under a lot of load ie. trail, but then when I get on it in the deeper snow say up a hill the r's drop back to like 7,900 ish and will bounce all over around 7,900 to 8,200 while climbing and hitting deeper snow then poping out then bouncing back into the deep snow etc. Wont hold steady at 8,200 to 8,300 like the sled used too. My guess is the belt is slipping a bit?? I'm going to throw my wifes 1183 OEM belt with 200 miles on it and see how that works in comparison. Before my last ride with this new Gates belt I cleaned both clutches with scotch bright pads, and cleaned the belt too.

Anyone else having the same issue??

(163" with 3" lugs 950 miles)

I have had one for 300 miles. Great belt. It's softer and grabs the clutch face better than the stock belt so you have to clutch to it. Clutch operating temps dropped significantly when I got set up for it.

Tell me more about what you did to "clutch to it"? deflection, weights, springs? What did you to "clutch to it"?

So you're R's are holding steady while climbing say up through the trees and over mounds of snow and into mounds of deeper snow where all needs to be right to hold a steady RPM? That's the type of conditions where I want the sled to hold around 8,300 and not budge more then 50 RPM.

You cant run the same clutching with the gates and OEM belt (if you want to get the most perf out of it). What your describing above.... You need more heel weight and less tip weight. Adjustable weights is the best way to go on the axys. It isnt working as well with OEM weights as the Pro did. With the low gearing, straight helix and new motor you can run a BUNCH of heel weight and really make some track speed. Eric

500 miles on the gates 44c (the older pro rmk style) on my axys sks. Runs awesome! 8000 ft with 62g weights pulled 8400 on the trail and 9000+ ft pulled 8100-8300 when climbing so works good enough for me. the 45Cs are $114? the 44c was $72 and some change :D just had to tighten the clutch sheaves about 2 turns. ill stick with the 44c. my sled really likes it, snappier than with the oem Polaris belt and id be happy to get 1000 miles out of a $72 belt not meant for the sled rather than $200 for a Polaris belt good for 1500/1800 miles.

Do these Gates belts have a warranty? If so, what's the procedure for getting a blown belt warrantied? Thanks
