So during our ride yesterday I was barely keeping up with a 800. So i have come to the conclusion I need a new track. So I have some questions for the 900 gurus. Would a 162" fit my 159 rails? Would a 16" wide fit my skid? Would I have to change track sprockets if I go to 2.5" lugs and if so what should i go to? Thanks

You could probably make the 162 work with your 159 rails if you ran a big wheel kit, either a 9" or 10" wheel to take up the slack. your tunnel is set up for 15" wide and a 16" would not work. You will probably have to get a different set of drivers because the 162 is probably a 3.0 pitch i am guessing, whereas your 159 is a 2.52 pitch. Contact Avid products and they can get you set up.

I would stick with the poo replacment tracks (2.52 pitch)
Two reasons first you will not have to change drivers..... It is costly to do about 300.00 dollars.
Second if you talk to the guys at tracks USA they will tell you that those series IV tracks with 2.4" lugs are one of the best deep snow tracks ever made.

I would go with a 166" track then all you need is rail extentions.

That will put those 800s behind you.

Heres what i did put the new 5.0 163 poo track off the new 09 dragon new drivers at 2.86, track is 2.86, 9in wheels and 163 ice age rails, these you may not need. Some people don't like this track on hard pack, but it rocks in the powder. And if your riding trails and hard pack y ride a long track.

I would go with the polaris 163 off a 09 or 10 that is what i put on my 05 900 it is alot of work though. You have to change to avid drivers and you have to shorten the rails up in front and put a anti stab kit on it. The nice thing is the track is lighter and rails are also. You get anti ratchet drivers so you can run the track looser. I had a 166 and the thing threw the lugs and there heavy.

I went with a Polaris series IV 2.4" and love it. Affordable, great all around mountain track, and no screwing around with new drivers or anything. Just install and run it.

You need to be cautious with how big of a lug your running on your sled. If the paddles are too big, your going to be binding up your tunnel with unused snow trying to plow through there. If your running a taller lug track, you might have to switch drivers to accommodate the clearance problem. It will take more power to push all the snow through. A 2.4 lug is plenty big. And as the others say, run a big wheel kit to gain a few extra inches at the back.

I wonder how much difference you will notice going from a 159 to a162. I'm betting you won't notice any. Especially with setup snow. You need to make sure your clutching is on and maybe look at adding more power, like the slp package.

The 2005-06 series IV track is rated better than the series 5.0 or the 5.1.

Just buy a 166" track used or new from the dealer.... rail extentions and bolt on.

Real easy!
