So I'm running a 3" riser on my HCR and rolled it a couple times down a hill after a good stuck. The steering post sheared off about 6" below the telescopic part. Worst part was getting towed out of the mountains by a Polaris!

So what are some good alternatives or fixes for this thing. Should I just buy another factory Cat post and run an anti slop kit or is there something better out there?

Definitely go Wildchild. Canadasledparts.com. I've used one of his posts on an old RMK I had and it was tough. The adjustable cat posts are junk imo. Make sure you put them all the way down before you roll the sled.

I'll look into them. Thanks. I had a lot of slop in my post before this so it was bound to happen I guess.

wildchild T top post.

If you roll the sled it can fold over if needed, then just adjust it right back.

The Rox adj riser is a great way as well to let you retain adjustability, but have a MUCH better post system. I'd say the 4-6" riser would be ideal for most people depending on height preference.

How did the build look on the CFR post, I wondered how the T top was set up if it looked beefy enough? The wildchild one has gussets supporting it... very strong. I like the price on the CFR, but wondered how it would hold up.

Well no gussets on CFR post, they put a little strap on where the T and the post meet. Also bought the plate from akmodshop to strengthen up the bulkhead where the post bolts to. A way better setup then the adjustable post, and i also put the BDX bushing in.

You won't be disappointed.

Btw, looking at the cat post, the wildchild T top looks to be lower to the cowling, it BARELY clears the plastic (no brushing or scratching, it's just very close) which means less leverage on the post, so it's less likely to bend than the cat one. Either is an improvement though.

Wildchild. They are REAL strong. Last year I rolled my M a bunch of times down an icy mountain and it landed against a tree. The steering post was what stopped it, literally had to cut the post out of the tree it was smashed in there so hard. I was lucky I did not damage my tunnel/bulkhead. Getting pulled out because of a broken steering post is the worst!

Now, if I can just figure out how to get the duct tape and hose clamps wrapped around this!

Seriously though... that is how I Fixed it at the bottom of a large bowl deep in the trees. My buddy's Pro has the CF bumper so no towing :(. Once home I pulled the post out shoved a piece of pipe inside and welded it up! All M's need the tunnel steering support installed before it cracks like mine! I ordered one up from wildchild, it looks good in the picks lol. I might upgrade to a different post later but I know mine is a lot stonger than when new.

What size riser is that?
