Trygstad makes motors for the Ski Doo Hillcross boys if that tells you something. I haven't heard anyone every complain about ANY of Trygstad's stuff BUT I think he mainly builds race motors so if your looking for turn key you might go with someone else.

has anyone done this big bore do you like it? hate it? and the good and the bads please thanks for the help

SHR now has an 880 which is extremely strong, using the Engine custom head, fully coated pistons make a perfect marriage, the motor is very strong.SHR porting is precise and most everyone will tell you about his service.I have several 880,s and 860.

My buddy I ride with had a stock Doo 800, reborn into a 860. Dave and his crew took the semi-reliable stock, punch-less, 800 and turned it into a monster! No problems with it as it climbs better than Spider man, and pulls hard enough to remove your arms.

He has over 2K miles of mountain riding on the engine--not a hiccup! I would not hesitate to send Dave any sled for whatever mod you want.

I want to get mine done but the cash isn't there.

Dave runs an honest business and treats his customers well.

complete package

So what creates an impressive, complete package? I'm thinking it's a "kit" PLUS.... plus pipe / pipes, plus crank refurbish (Trygstad) plus gauges, gearing, clutching. Seems a 2k motor could turn into a 4-4.5k project real quick?

Dont necessarily mind the costs but want to know beforehand what full package costs are ... what it'll take to complete the package into a rippin mountain motor.

What are the opinions on the $900 Trygstad crank refurbish? Necessary? Benefits?

For an elevation mountain motor my strongest most reliable SHR -BJ ported 880 with engine tech custom head.Domes are in CAD now with 14.1-13.5 and 12.7.Have run several and very reliable top end,Build more torque than my 860,s.The 880 has very good RPM recovery traits and does not pull down, Its not as peaky as the 860,s are. The power band is liner. Its more money with the special fully coated - 12 oiling hole pistons. Jetting spec are proven and turn key and suggest Bored carbs. ready to roll.

Got any pics of the pistons? Where do you get them with oiling holes?
The 880 I have uses crankshop pistons. No oil holes.
I have it apart rite now. May consider changing pistons.

Call Crankshop . New version has 6 oil holes on Exhaust and 6 on intake. They and flawless and skirts still have all the coating after 1200 miles on last build. My 860,s were scared pretty bad with same mileage
