Would be nice to be able to post a youtube video in the thread so you don't have to go to the website. I know Admin was talking about doing this not sure if they did yet????? If they did how do I do it???

Thanks.

personally I would rather use youtube, to host on site would surely slow the site more, and, I would rather control my own vids(after 2 weeks no longer allowed to edit post)..just my opinion...

Well the way I'm thinking (I'm not a computer expert) You still upload everything to Youtube but when you post the link it makes it so it plays in your thread. Think it would be an embedded link. Don't think that would slow anything down.

The module your referring to is AME.
Automatic Media Embedding.
And it is on the install list.

If you're worried about that, you could still just post a link like now... nothing saying you can't.

I think the problem came down to allowing HTML to be embedded into forums.

In general there are PROFOUND warnings against allow embedded HTML into forum posts because it can be used to launch attacks against the site.

Example.

This is the required code to display the You-Tube Snowmobiling Video "Breathe - the most beautiful snowmobile clip in the world"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKn9kOtVgEg

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/MKn9kOtVgEg?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/MKn9kOtVgEg?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Can't you use a BB code and make a tag on the message page that lets you put the entire link or just the video number between a ?? Its the same as linking a picture's html on here, isn't it?

Just in case: How-To-Make-a-YouTube-BB-Code-in-vbulletin
