Have a 17 axys that is part of the safety recall regarding the steering column. I currently have the sled tore down dealing with some other issues just wondering which part exactly is part of the recall? Just checking to see the cost of the part versus me Dragging the slide on the trailer hauling it to a dealer and leaving it there for several days and then having to get it back. Don't know if dealer would be willing to just swap the part out under warranty/recalland I can install. I'm assuming they need to bill something off to polaris and also probably do the work seeing that it is a recall. Thanks for any info.

I know its a small bushing because i wanted the part to be on hand wether they did it or i did it. You know how they are. They wanted me to drop sled off and check it and then order the part once they figured it out. I asked how much is the part and he said 3 dollars i almost lost my s***. I almost yelled him. I told him no worries i will pay the $3 please order it. I havnt done it yet and i doubt i will have them do it. Im told by other forum member its the upper steering bushing. I was told to take airbox out and should be easy to install. It has a split in it as if it just wraps around column but not sure. Dealer said recall ends dec 31 which sounds strange to if its a safety issue.

Pulled mine out. Inspected it. Welds looked good. Added 3 short welds for good measure, touched up the paint and reinstalled. Saved me alot of hassle hauling to the dealer.

It says pitman arm not steering post. That's the forward post that goes down to the ski tie rods.

Yes, it is the Pitman Arm. Takes the dealer about an hour to replace. Polaris pays them .8 hrs on labor. Mine was OK. The dealer had done about a dozen of them before mine and did not find a bad one. If getting to your dealer is a PITA, then you might do like Griff did and pull it yourself, inspect, spot weld if needed and put 'er back in. It ain't rocket science. Your call.

I was not going to replace mine on my 2017 but dealer highly recomended it. When i first looked at the original it looked fine but upon further inspection i could see were it was starting to crack on the edge of the welds, it was barely noticeable other than a little bit of rust in the cracks.
