This guy needs to run for office. He puts Baird in his place and knows his issues. I love hearing Baird deny he called those who oppose health care reform "brown shirts" and then in the next breath say he apologized. David points out that the brown shirts were liberals who did the same thing Obama is doing. He also tells Baird to leave his kids alone. He also said "it's not your right to decide whether I keep my current [health care] plan or not."

What if this plan turned out to be an improvement for alot of Americans, and for those that can't get adequate helth care right now??? People have a natural fear of change....but most don't know if the change will be truly better for them or not. I don't either. IMO they should come up with a plan, educate Americans on what it will mean to THEM and put it up for a vote.

You are right, people don't lke change, but.................

I, for one might be optimistic about their health care if all of our legislators were jumping at the chance to be the first ones to use what they are proposing. Until then they are hypocrits IMO. I am also a person that could really use more affordable insurance, as my co. doesn't provide it.

For me it's common sense that says what they are coming up with in Congress is a lose lose.
1. As mentioned, until they are ready to dump the lavish plans they have that we taxpayers pay for and jump on the plan they're devising for us - no go. To me that's one of the biggest and most simple telltale issues.

2. No one in this administration is honest (yes, I know there are dishonest conservatives too, I'm talking about trusting what THIS administration is trying to pass NOW). Looking at what they have said in the past, they clearly want a government controlled system and they've clearly made this current plan so wordy and overwhelming that it leaves tons of loopholes and ways to make this whatever the heck they want once it's passed.

3. We can look to other similar systems and the nightmare that they are to know exactly what's going to happen here.

4. We simply cannot afford it.

5. They aren't willing to look at common sense reforms like dealing with the waste in Medicare or tort reform or drug company corruption.

6. The government has NEVER run anything efficiently and having them make ANY choices for the individual is a bad thing. There is simply no accountability, tons of fraud and waste.

7. The name-calling and marginalizing (by those in DC who want this plan) against those who are against it speaks volumes. Also the lack of willingness to be bipartisan. It's their way or the highway.

Again, looking at the belief systems and corruption in this administration, anything that they try to pass is going to benefit their agenda and their agenda is BAD for America. It's a self-serving, power and control agenda and nothing in what they say or do is about caring about people. When you look at Obama's choices and his life and what he's done for others - it isn't there. His own relatives live in poverty.

Michelle Obama headed up the Urban Health Initiative while she was VP of a Chicago Hospital. Corrupt. Sending people w/o money to other facilities because they didn't want to deal with people who couldn't pay (look it up). They do NOT practice what they preach. A socialist agenda has NEVER worked. It's not practical and individuals need to have freedom to do as they choose.

I was so angry to see on our local news a bunch of people going door to door in Missoula telling people how wonderful this Obamacare is going to be and lying to everyone about what's really in it. There are still a lot of gullible people out there who won't do the research on their own. Craigslist is advertising for people to get paid to work for Obamacare. We need to educate people so they aren't brainwashed.

Yes, that should be part of the plan, it should also be the plan for our elected officials and their families.....that's not asking much and is VERY reasonable....it would give the people faith that they are really looking out for the good of the people and not just trying to be controlling or have underlying motives.

Wasn't the main political reason that Hillary lost the Democratic nomination because of her NEED to socialize healthcare while most of the country did not want that?

And now BO and the rest of Congress are making it their mission in life to get it passed and force it on us whether we want it or not... Sounds to me like the analogy he used in his speech was right on.

All you need to do is take a look at Medicare or the VA to see how poorly the government runs medical programs.

ALRIGHT!
:)Someone could make a killing setting up permanent housing in DC for all the liberal representatives supporting Obama's plan.
They've got to be wondering by now, "am I safe in my home state anymore?"
If they have any sense at all they should know that they aren't.

God Bless America and the freedom we intend to keep!

your missing the point.
it's not about change.
It's not about whether it would be good or not.
It's about a basic fundamental problem with the whole idea of what is happening.

that basic problem is this.
It's unconstitutional for the feds to EVER CONSIDER it. Let alone implement it. In accordance with the 10th amendment, it is the states right and duty to carry out any such plan. The fed only gets to handle it if and when the states GIVE THEM THAT RIGHT. To the best of my knowledge, my state has never voted to give the feds ANY powers associated with health care.

If any senator or congressman votes for obamacare they are in breach of their oath of office (the part where they swear to uphold the constitution), They are in breach of the constitution.
They are in breach of their states sovernty (sp?).

When you elect a federal politician you are electing an individual to represent you on constitutional matters, unfortunetly, over the last 50 years the feds have just assumed they can do what ever they choose. The states have sat on their hands as the feds have grabbed power that is specifically appointed to the states and specifically deneighed the feds.

That is the point of this.
The feds continued and out of control power grab.

That and list me ONE federal social program that works and isn't either going broke or already broke.

Don't they already control the medical care for anyone over 65....alot of disabled on federal programs, military and govt employees.....so I'm guessing about 1/3 of of the population?
I'm not sticking up for this in any way.....I like to play the devils advocate and throw out questions and comments to get people thinking. Most people are dead set against ANY plan, without knowing what it is about....that's just ignorant.
We depend on our govt for alot of things....that's why they are there, but I think we need less govt involvement in health care, not more. But right now the insurance and drug companies are the big players in healthcare and I'm thinking they are just as corrupt as govt if not more.....but we can't vote them out of we don't like the direction they are taking us.
Does the constitution really say anything about health care ?....I honestly dont' know....I'm asking.

I really think the solution is simple.

Pass a little tort reform, I don't trust docs or hospitals to do the right thing, so there can't be anything as full tort. There is always a grey area, but the danger is still there. Actually, I think there should be a non-binding arbitration process, followed by a full tort, option.

Make it illegal for a hospital to charge anyone for services they did not receive. Give hospitals the right of refusal, without consequences. Sorry, I don't care.

Set up 24hr community health care. Yha, I said community health care. But, you have to be registered, and that means the real hospitals know you can't pay, so will just ship your azz over there.

If you didn't earn it, you don't deserve the "best", you deserve what's left over. But, people should be able to get some health care that doesn't require a emergency room visit. Let them run that, like they run the VA. Pretty soon the truth will be told, and it won't hurt the "taxpayer".

And if your health issue is due to your drug habit, or your in ability to stop eating, have the ambulance dump you in an alley. Again, I don't care.

I do agree with the liberals on one thing, Insurance companies suck. But, I disagree why they suck. I think it's because hospitals charge everyone for service they gave to those unable to pay. That's not right. It's not right to bankrupt some garbage man, because some drug addict can't pay.

Ollie: Your words made a lot of sense to me. I wasn't aware of how this is viewed until now.

I do know one thing: I have benefits, in October the cost for them will go up nearly 35%, that is $ out of my pocket, but I couldn't afford them on my own..... IMO the whole damn system is corrupt. I am lucky to have good benefits as I know some don't or can't afford and I believe they should have them, for the working family....

Only problem is, you know that the working families won't qualify, but somehow every welfare person will. That's what burns me.

Ready for this...........
Medicaid, medicare, Social Security, Welfare, Federal Land (Forest service and BLM), State Highway funds, No child left behind, Gun control laws, The list goes on and on are all UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

All of those programs were put in place by the feds in direct violation of the US Constitution. However, most of those plans were put in place during one emergency or another and all were put in place by dems. It has pushed this country towards Socialism.

You want to change the medical industry?
I mean REALLY change it.
First, tort reform. You have GOT to get lawyers out of the equation. Doctors are SO scared of law suits that they do a chingo of extra and expensive tests to cover their azzes.

Second, hold drug companies accountable by allowing US distributors to import and sell drugs from other countries. Why buy the drugs for 50 dollars here when I can import the exact same drug from a distributor in Europe for 20 dollars.

Third, no illegal shall receive medical care unless they are turned over to ICE for deportation. That would ensure that only illegals with an actual emergency problem goes to the emergency room. Currently we spend BILLIONS on health care for illegals since they use the emergency room for everything from actual emergencies to their kid has the sniffles.

Fourth, allow people to opt out of medicare, medicaid, Social Security and welfare. Give the choice back to the people. Break the pyrimid scheme and end the out of control social programs. My paycheck out go up 400 dollars a check by not having my money stolen by the feds. I can put that money in an account and save for my own future.

Those 4 things right there are cost neutral.
Those 4 things would lower the costs a lot.

Change insurance companies.
join a local co-op in your area.
Have the company you work for negotiate with a few insurance companies to get the best deal.
If you just sit back and take it, they will drive the costs thru the roof.

First thing you do is contact your doctor.
Ask for his advice on which company is best (cost to value).

Here's the curve ball for me in all of that. My employer is about as close to the government as you can get. They "give me" a dollar figure to spend, its called "total compensation", so lets say that $ figure given is 10K, they then offer two plans to choose from which cost 12k and 15k, so the "extra" I have to pay, the first plan sucks and the more expensive plan is 416.00 a month out of my pocket! I agree time to shop around, good thought on asking the doctors! Thanks!
