C3 Belt drive gearing

R
I am looking to see if anyone has any good ideas for lower elevation gearing ideas for 1500-1800 feet for my HCR 800. I am currently running 2.42, 26 top, 63 bottom, and I sure like it, but 7000 rpm at 50mph,,I can see the gas gauge move! I need some more legs.
If anyone has any, good ideas or similar, gearing, sure would appreciate it.

I don't think you'll find too many people wanting to ride faster than 50 mph on a 153

 me! I like to have the ability to hit 80 once in a while. I just don't expect to make mileage when doing it with a mountain clutching and gearing setup. You only have so much power to pull a certain load. You have to decide if you want it to be able to pull a hard deep snow load with your clutches at closer to 1:1, or if you want it to run 1:1 at 50mph and lower in the primary under hard load (making more slip and more heat). Not saying you can't improve your situation, but be aware there's always a trade off.

How big of a rider are you and what kind of snow conditions you ride the most? How well is your sled upshifting/backshifting? Knowing what you can give up a little will help to know where you can afford to make changes. Gearing up to 2.33 ratio would probably be an easy thing to try. Softer secondary spring finish rate will probably allow a little more shift out but will feel more sluggish.

You could try 27/63 or 26/60.
Ether way you'd only have to buy one sproket to try it.

28/63 will give you 2.25:1 ratio. I would also look at a steeper helix for flatland riding, maybe look at XF clutching chart
