Does anyone know how much power is lost from say 3000 ft to 9000 feet? I was curious what my old M7 feels like at my low altitude where I ride in northern New Hampshire compared to the new 800's at say Rocky Mountain elevation.

For every 1000' elev gain u lose roughly 3% hp.

So if you have 160hp at sea level, you will have approx 112 at 10,000.
Loss of 30%.

However, if you are a 10,000' rider and come down to sea level, you will feel like you've gained 42% more power.

Thanks, that is very interesting.

I wonder what stock HP numbers are measured from? I would assume pressty close to sea level to make it look best on paper.

that is a great explaination, some engine guys i know will say up to 3.5% loss per 1k. and the hp stated from the manufacturer are based off of 0' elevation and 50% humidity and all this other impossible crap.

About ten years ago I moved from my 9000-10000ft riding area to a different state where our riding was at 3,000-5000. Couldn't believe how much more powerful my sled felt. Like having nitrous all the time.

I know the figures, but I often forget the significance of it. I always wonder how people are happy with PG turbos... but man, a PG turbo at 3k must be an absolute monster.... at 12k... not so much.
