16 m8000 sno pro clutching gearing question

Yesterday out with the boys in heavy spring snow I was low man on the totum pole. Sled only tacking 7400 to 7800 between 9000 and 11000 feet. All year it's been about 8 to 81. Back shift seems fine, usually the things rips (I only weight 140). What direction do I go. I thought the sno pro 162 2.6 had the correct gearing compared to the le that was too low, needing a regear.

With out pulling it apart what are my gears?
Was thinking of dropping my weights from 68 to 66 grams?

Not doing a belt drive, not piping, not putting on a box either.

It's not gearing, doubt you should drop to 66gr either but up to you.
Belt getting worn?
Warmer temps, higher clutch temps, lower rmp
About all I can offer. Those elevations are higher than I've ever been on the north side of the border. Earlier in the year I was having trouble, changed my belt and skis were in the air

do you normally ride above 9k?

your gearing is 19/50
with 68 your 6-9k
if you ride above 9 k then put in the speedwerx 125-340 primary spring and you will be right as rain.

I do normally ride above 9000 feet.

I assume my gearing would ideally be 20/50?

What are the spring rates on the stock springs?

your sled came with a spec sheet, you will find your gearing and all spring rates along with helix and other owner should know info.

Your stock spring is 85/255. I agree a spring more around 125/235 would be better, Speedwerx springs are rated different than Cats so Kiliki is probably on the money with the Speedwerx spring rating.

Clutch weights are too heavy though. If you had a '12-'15 you'd be good with 68s, since you have a '16 your too heavy.
'16 M8 Weights/elevation recommendations:

72g- 0-3k
70g- 3-6k
68g- 6-8k
66g- 8-10k
64g- 10k+

66 Cat weights -- that are actually weighed and matched the same to 66 grams

122 / 285 SW H5 Spring with spring cup adapter

43 helix
180 / 270 SW H5 secondary spring
(180 / 240 stock)

2.65 gearing --- 19/ 50 8 tooth or 20 / 49 7 tooth

9 - 11000 ft

works good, not as good as my mds setup though

--MDS 9-11000 ft with SW 122 / 285 primary spring and spring cup adapter does way better and more consistant than 100 / 340 polaris spring recommended in kit...engagement is just a tad high till maybe spring works in, but not at all bad....rest of rpm range rips....recommend this before any high price engine mod....it pulls...roost on demand....lol....
