Looking at buying a 06 skidoo summit 800x with a 144". I've been hearing mixed opinions on the 06 rev chassis. Are the bottom ends really that bad? I've also heard they're prone to catching fire. Has 4700 miles on it no clue if it has been rebuilt recently but looks clean. Also at how many miles should the top and bottom be rebuilt on it. Looking to switch over from Arctic cat.

Bottom end in that motor was better than the 2007 to 2017 R motor that replaced it. Very reliable and balanced OK. The gas tank is vented so if it has a full tank of gas, and the nose is severely downhill, they will leak. Fires? Not many, however don't park with the nose downhill. This was a bigger problem with the 2003.5 and early 2004 models.
With good care and good oil: The bottom end will outlast two top ends - or about 6000 miles in the mountains or 10,000 in the flats. Top end is good for about 3000 miles in the mountains.
Cat 2T motor is smoother, and the crank lasts longer, due to better balancing at the factory. :eyebrows:
