getting crazy high quotes for my new 2019 summit 850 175

any suggestions appreciated

am not rich like Chadly so cannot self insure

Am thinking if around 400 per year then maybe the price of sledding for me has finally gotten too much.

Try ALLSTATE... they increased our coverage and brought the costs down... so much so we switched our motorcycles, truck, RV, Home, and SUV over to them too... saved about 800 a year on everything. Snowmobiles were less than 150 a year each (2015 Doo Summit X and 2012 Doo SP Summit)

I had Allstate and it was really expensive. I don't know anyone that was paying as much as I was.

5yrs ago, i was paying under $200 per yr.
Good coverage, $100,000-$300,000.
Now its $350 per yr for a $15k sled.
Agent said the last 5yrs, claims have skyrocketed. I can see all the young guys yard sale their sleds so they could get insurance to just go buy a new sled.

Default Sled insurance

We have Safeco and pay around $370 a year for a 2015 Polaris Pro and a 2016 Axys. That being said, you have to really look at the policy. Most insurance companies default the coverages to “motorcycle”. I do not believe I need $250,000 to $500,000 bodily injury coverage or $100,000 property damage coverage. Nor do I let them place “with guest passenger” on the plan. Also, when the season is over, I have them reduce the coverage even further as I don’t think my sled can cause anyone property damage or bodily injury during the summer months. Our main concern is replacement coverage. If we did a lot of trail riding where I think you are more likely to run into someone else, I may choose different coverage.

Default thanks everyone

Clarke I am there with similar coverage.

If any of you have assets you should get an umbrella policy.

That being said an umbrella policy will not cover any additional unless you have the 300k minimum on the insured home. sled, car, boat etc.
just a fyi

my Safeco was around 360 for my 14 xm full coverage.

Sasha
be careful I had to use my insurance for a no fault medical claim with a incident with my buddy on the hill. med expenses can eat up your coverage in a hurry and if no 300k min then no umbrella.

My insurance never went up after our accident due to no fault. Sure was nice to be backed up though.

Was an off trail accident. If you are trying to get somewhere and have to go up chutes or tight climbs in trees with others the chance of something going south is always there.
