I'm new to this site and just purchased a 2012 800 Sno Pro 162 with 900 miles. I need a new spare belt. It currently has a 083 on it and a burnt 083 spare. The local arctic cat dealer said I need the 084 but couldn't tell me why. I researched and the 083 is $69.00 and 084 is $140 from ebay. Can anybody help me and clarify the difference. Thank you in advance!

The 084 belt is harder and can take more heat before it blows. Because it is harder it seems to be a little slipperier and slides down into the driven quicker resulting in lower rpms (about 100). I have gotten an 084 hot enough that it gets a glaze on it and then all it does is over shift. Sanding the glaze off helps but it is never the same

If you do long full throttle pulls the 084 will last longer. For technical riding the 083 seems to be better and more consistent.
