So glad the time was taken to move the thread only to have it crash and burn as a new derailment takes over lol. I'll try to get it back on track.
IMO there are a few things that lead to the disappoint shall we call it with some people's experience on their 1100. Somewhere in the family tree of 1100 problem solving parts they got fed up:
1. First thought it could get away with a piggyback or a flatland reflash. Most other than mountain guys could be happy with that...but we like hills.
2. Evo starts flashing mountain tunes. If a customer skipped step one they would be thrill with performance. That would out climb 75% of 800 turbo kits for less than $600. Holy s$$t right! This is awesome! But we knew at this point heat in general was the enemy.
3. Blankets, intakes, BRVs, up pipes, boost hoes quickly followed. Call it 2k into mods now. Very few 800 turbos are in your class. Saw it the first year and all last year. And we are not taking about how they ride in trees against an 800. Start a new thread lol.
At this point is where the sled starts to show it's build limits. Belt issues, saggy motor mounts, jackshafts, chain cases. Several companies including Evo start making parts for these issues. I know I started collecting these parts to test and make accessable to the general public up north who didn't have the time or knowledge to know how to fix their sled. Because of the variances of the sled for one reason or another some of these fixes worked yet on another it would not. Those guys needed something else. It is well documented (a really good one by Eric at RacinStation) how there were many combinations of issues.
4. BC kits come out. Work great, but depending on the rider and set up they would need things listed above, guys with only a 215 flash did not. And again not everyone needed to do all this. Majority did not. Sled owner now into around 5k in the sled.
Depending on what reliability parts he needs to replace he could tack on another couple grand. This is where some guys got fed up. It has nothing to do with any of the power adder aftermarket guys. It has to do with the sled not built for it.
The other thing I keep coming back to is there is a different mentality for those that came to an 1100 from a 2s anything and those of us that came from highly modified Yami land. There are 2 expectations for the old yami guy there. You can't build a new Nitro/Viper for less than 22k, and you have a stock sled and a turbo bolted on. Reliable....yes. At the compatible price you have a far better riding and handling 1100. And secondly we've all come off of Yami's that cost that much or more. For 2s guys IMO it's 2 things. Getting power hungry as the first steps were so easy....but then the unknown issues with the sled that needed to be addressed as they started to mod.
