Christopher, I might have missed it, but I couldn't find the "list of petitioners". Is it there? I'm curious which groups are backing this crap. Good work, thanks for the heads up.

Problems like this will continue to surface so long as our judiciary leans in that direction and allows this kind of garbage to proceed through the court systems.

You mean like murderers geting off with just 90 days jail and probation.lawers and judges have a sick way of thinking.

We do need to give them some areas to play as well, this is some off our fault by not backing off when we see them or going out of our way to not disturbe them. But this is still them trying to take way to much.

Maybe we need to do a study on how far a cross country skier can travel in a day and have them all register and allow half that much space for every register skier.
Then do the same with sleders and give us that same area.
dont think they will like paying to play and then the gas. Last time I checked in utah they dont pay a dime for grooming trails, that comes out of the general fund of taxes and our sled registations, that means we pay twice they pay once. Maybe im wrong if not thats fair hu.:face-icon-small-fro

You know this crap is getting on my nerves, i was brainstorming a plan not long ago on an envior movement towards focusing on the pollution of skis and cross country skiing (and touching heavy into how polluting ski resorts them selfs are in the big picture) Stupid as it sounds, Skis and snowboards as we have known them for a while are non-recyclable and if i recal that base wax is petroleum based, on our side we can actually recycle our sleds completely.
would be nice if we could spin the heads of these idiots to think about there own hobbys instead of ours, might take them away from fighting someone to make them selfs feel good crap, give them a trip back in the self guilt part of it all.
all we ask is to be left alone about this anymore,

F#$% you Snow Nazi's. Do you really need every sqare inch of Forest service to yourselves? Yes, I backcountry hike and snowboard, and also snowmobile. Usually after a mile out there is not a soul around. Do you really need this
f#$%ing land to be off limits? Mt Shasta has 90% off limits to snowmobiles, do you really need the other 10%. Maybe you should focus your efforts on better parking, facilities, and education.
F#$% Off!

These people that are on the far left, that want us out of the forest, truely believe that they know what is best for us, and what is best for our safety, and the environment.

Please don't make the mistake that it is ONLY the extreme left... There are plenty of Republicans on this same band wagon.

It's NOT just about who composes this... but who signs it and lets their reps know they don't like sledding.

How we reply or show our voice of opposition is very important.

I'm pretty ticked off as well, but foul language or fist waving is not going to do any good.

GET INVOLVED!!

As I've said in another post that I made a while back.

And "THEY" wont just be "granola crunchin greenies"... I've met plenty of card carrying, large carbon footprint, ultra conservative Republicans that could give a rats azz about sledding and find them to be very irritating... so lets not make this into a Conservative Vs. Liberal thing.

So, Instead of stating the obvious here and cussin and swearing.....

Do something positive for our sport.

Come up with some ways that you can get, say, 5 fellow sledders involved in writing to the proper organizations or put up a plan for action for others to follow easily.

Follow up with them and "ride them like a rented mule" to do the same recruitment.

It was very sad to see the Blue Ribbon booth at Jackson like a Ghost town... people will spend $40 on beer and Cheese Steaks but not one dime on supporting the organizations that are working to keep your riding areas open.

Ever memder here needs to pony up $50.00 to SAWS.

I became a life member of BRC this year. If they start a fund speficially to fighting this measure, I'll gladly donate to it.

If SAWS starts one up I will as well.

I have a very very very very very very very very bad feeling that this is going to get ramrodded through because of the 2008 decision that essentially shut down all public land to any kind of motorized access "unless posted otherwise". They figure if that was pushed through, this should be pushed through under the same logic.

Even though this was specifically in US national forests, the USFS and BLM etc are all part of the Department of Agriculture if I am not mistaken, so it's basically all the same organization.

I think legally that they will wind up fighting the greater access issues when this goes to court, and unfortunatley this will be lumped with that and I am incredibly afraid we're going to lose this one.

Too Funny clutch. When are these freaks going to pull their heads out of their butts and realize that we pay for their access to these wildlands and where else but Sun Valley would this be based. God I can't grow enough oats on my farm to feed these granola eaters. I deal with this crap with looney lefties up here who think all I do is try to chase the deer and other wildlife out in the backcountry. Where do you find the deer and elk they are on the trails because it so much easier to get around. You will never find them when you are boondocking in a bowl. Sorry I got a little sidetracked on my rant. Good luck with this fight I will try to help as much as possible from here but us Canucks are not taken very seriously!
