I'd run 50/50 C12 and prem for insurance on stock compression or built motor. Me personally, I'd rather have a stainless shim and run pump premium than have to run straight C12 or C16. Straight race fuel makes sleds as lazy or lazier than a shim. Shims and low comp have been a proven set up for running higher hp for years, I wouldn't reinvent the wheel.(many have tried and destroyed many motors).

I would say guys like Neil that are running stock compression, arent trying to run 300 hp through them. Talk to the guys that put the real miles on to find out what works. Things like water to air can help to push the limits of set ups but I think in the end you would be happier running lower compression and premium. With anything you have to put a limit on the equipment, many motors are destroyed by people trying to overpush the capability of a 1 liter engine. :)

So C12 looks to be running about $15 per gallon, and 110 about $14 a gallon. Gotta work on keeping this baby running on PUMP GAS as much as possible!

As I'm sure we all know. This sport can be expensive. and running race fuel its self makes a already expensive sport into one for only the rich.... It hurts the bank and it just gets tiring watching your sled slurp up all that extra money like nothing.

If I were you I'd just do the head shim. Your good on pump fuel up to ~270 HP on 91 pump for the nytro! And I know my apex 290 Hp on 91... its just nuts... and again 290 hp on PUMP, and those are on stock internals with a head shim

you can try to play with the its and bits here and there, pull timing, do this or that. but realistically what you WILL end up doing is putting the head shim in. Because in the end if your serious about getting more power its the way to go.

You could run I'd bet 320 hp on av gas. which mind you av gas is fairly cheap. 91 Octane here is about 1.50/L? I was paying 1.70/L for av so its fairly affordable still. But race gas.... at $3.85/L for 107... no thanks

I have run 91 octane in my nytro for 5 going on 6 years now up to 17 psi above 5000' and 15 psi at 2000' with a headshim. I have tried av gas,110 and 112 sled runs just as good on 91 as any othe feul with higher octane. I always carry some av gas to mix if I'm unsure about the quality of the fuel that I'm buying. advertised 91 isn't always 91.
With straight av gas I found that the sled didn't idle very well.

No way it should be that much in Idaho. If you buy a 55 gallon barrel it should be around $8 a gallon for 110 or 112. How much boost are you going to run? If your in the 10-12 psi range keep mixing 50/50 or just run av gas. Av gas is cheap now, in utah $5.80 gallon.

12psi is the target for this season.
I would be happy if I could get away with running 20-25% race fuel mixed with premium 91.
Except when I am in Canada at 1,500ft and then I am willing to bit the bullet.
But I recall being able to buy pump 100 octane in revelstoke.

Had my first run with the upgraded supercharger yesterday.
Rode from 6,000-8,000ft.

Ran 91 Pump Gas with about a 1.5 gallon splash of 110.
So probably around 20% 110 total.

Sled ran GREAT.
made huge power.

Did NOT get a chance to run it to full RPM though do to POOR snow conditions and way too much ICE on the trails.

Will try again next weekend for a full power pull and see what the engine does.

50 gallon barrel for $7.97 per gallon for VP110, and $8.47 for 112.

I ran my stock Boondocker Apex at 16# on straight 100ll. It ran fine from 2,500-10,000 feet.

Last year I tried Torco Accelerator with premium at same elevations and 16#. Still ran fine and motor is running well. Torco seems to work and way easier to pack along than race/100ll fuel.

So I am still running about 15-20% vp110 just to be safe at 6,500ft
1 gallon race +5-6 gallons 91 ethanol free gas.

So far so good.
