Does that powder condom over the headlight work very well? Just can't get past the looks of those things, but wondering how effective it is.

YES IT CAN DANGLE!
I've only been in powder deep enough once and it seemed to work fine. Took it off for the time-being as I haven't been in much super deep snow recently.
Reminds me of Brandywine. Amazing BIG terrain up there north of the border. You B.C. guys are VERY fortunate.
Sproat is cool too but we got stuck up there in the thick fog and had to spend the night. Whistler Search & Rescue guided us out the next morning in even heavier fog.

My 'X' with a MBRP Can. Boondocking in the Big Horns.
They are Evol X's... Love Them!!!! I pulled them off my 2011 before i sold it. But you can get a set from Tom's.

I don't think they will be on my sled long... They will be going on my brothers xm along with the Toms evo air kit with the new E-motion arm. I will probably end up getting another set next year though!
