Changing track to 2.5"

Are you wanting the most flotation possible? = 16"
Price difference? no = 16"

Some say they like the turning of a 15" better, I didn't notice much of difference from the track, mostly the front suspension setup.

It's actually a cool track. The track is 16" wide, but the paddles are spaced in a bit so it doesnt rub on the bumper bolts or rivets in the tunnel.

My stock track was getting chewed a bit on the sides of the paddles but the new extreme is perfect!

Great track!

the 2.5 with 2.86 is 16 in. but outside lug to lug is 15 in. # 9102 at tracks usa. with that said i ran as good if not better than the full 2.5 with 3.0. 16 lug to lug. easy install. you could add rear drop brackets if you want.

What gain have you guys seen on identicle sleds going from the stock track to the 3 pitch 16 wide, 16 wide lugs 2.5 track?? Equal lengths, what is the actual amount gained pulling a hill would you say???

Just curious

I was not happy about the 286 track having 15 wide paddles. Heres what I was told and was able to convince myself of...

- 286 tracks are supposed to spin faster than 3.00 tracks
- there is very lil clearance in the tunnel and the full 16 wides run on ice rivets etc so the 15er should run faster

Hope thats all true. sj

Don't get me started again!!! I LOVE THE 15x2.5x156 on my sled. No more 16's for me. I blew enough "hot air" about this 15 vs. 16 thing last year;)

Why do you like the 15 over the 16 and have you ridden the Camo Extreme 2.5" lug 16 wide track for a direct comparison? And isn't your track 3.0 pitch - did you switch drivers or just running it on the 2.86 drivers?

Not flaming you I'm genuinely interested in your opinion. My Renegade is getting stretched for the mountains this year and I'm having a hard time deciding on the 15 or 16 wide 146 Extreme.

I changed to a 15" polaris track and love it. Easy install with no issues. It is lighter weight and will let more snow flow through your tunnel with out restriction. Works great in the NW snow condititons.

Assault track by chance? PM me if you don't mind as I don't want to jack the thread too bad.

My track is 3 pitch and the drivers are stock 2.86's. I didn't ride back to back with a 16 wide, but it sidehills a WHOLE LOT BETTER now than it did with the shorter, but wider doo track. I'm sold! As I stated before; if the 16 wide track was that much better, Poo and AC would have 'em. They don't and according to just about every ride report you read when comparing MTN sleds, the Doo never side hills as easy, nor does it lay over as easy as they other two. Mine sidehilled just fine before, but it is MUCH easier to hold an "edge" with the 15.:beer;

I'm looking at stretching my 09 Renegade to a 146" as well and after some research it looked to be an easy swapout with 4" rail extensions. Just today was talking to someone and they heard that the 2.5" lugs don't have enough clearance with the stock Renegade drivers(9 tooth I think). Anyone know if this is true? Do the Summits and Renegades have different size drivers?
