I'm thinking about refreshing the top end of the GF's sled this summer and am curious about which pistons to get. I saw I can get SPI T-Moly piston kits (???) from Carl's a lot cheaper than going with the Polaris piston kit. Anyone have any opinions on SPI T-moly pistons?

The sled is running great but has about 4300 miles on it.

Polaris piston kit is $155 for each cylinder

SPI T-moly (54-728PS) is $98.95 for each cylinder - can any tell me if this is a full piston kit or just a piston and nothing else?

Try Babbitt's, Partsland or pitstop for on-line Polaris parts. No sales tax and the OEM piston kits are around $125 plus you have to buy new rod bearings.

SPIs come with everything except the wrist pin bearing. Piston/rings/clips/wrist pin. I have used a whole bunch of SPIs and always been completely happy with them. You can get the SPIs from Hi Performance Engineering for $64.

It seems to me that the coating wears off of the spi piston very quickly, compared to the OEM piston. Thats what i have seen in the 700/800.
