Would you please measure the ID of the spring you used? If it matches the arctic white or orange I would love to know where to get one thanks.

That is the right spring. If it is to tight a hole saw will do the trick and the easiest way to do it. A lath will not cut it vary easy. 2" hole saw will of the trick.

The spring is totally black with the letters PL/PL on it no purple marks. IF your getting the one that has the two purple strips it is the old stock 07 spring. Purple or doo calls it double violet.

Don.

Thank you!

Both the Skidoo and the Straightline spring fit just right over the outer diameter of a 2" hole saw but, another 1/8" of material would be removed. I'd like to find a 2 1/8" hole saw, that would be perfect.

I chamfered (filed) the inside of the super long black Skidoo spring. Then I fought and fought with it until I finally got it to start over the hub. Then I took a flat screw driver and a small hammer and tapped the spring down over the center hub until it contacted the two black plastic washers. Now I can't wait to give it a try.

So you are still using the two washers. I asume that everyone is ? I don't suppose you measured the free length before you installed it ?

No I did not measure the spring length, sorry. I can tell you it stood much taller than any of the other springs and is a bit fo a struggle to fit into the helix and bolt down.

I'd like more feedback from guys that are running this spring. Anything new?

Aaron

I really like how it keeps the RPM'S up no matter what snow conditions. I'm trying the ski-doo blue/yellow (235-335) tomorrow and I have a blue/red (250/345) to try out after that... One of the benefits of riding with those mustard packets, they have all the springs..:face-icon-small-hap

I was told (although I haven't verified it yet) that a finish rate of 300 is just about perfect.

I was also told the Straightline Silver 185/315 was a bit too much spring, but once again, I haven't had the chance to prove that yet.

I can say, the Fett Brother Green/white 198/288 spring really helped to wake up my sled.

spring size?

Have both springs,
# on Doo spring 417 127 062 PL/PL
I.D. 2.044, O.D. 2.445, Lenght 6.110

# on Cat Orange 0648-774
I.D. 2.114, O.D. 2.61, Lenght 5.483

Don't see how one can make that fit in the closed end helix
as it will not slip over the inner hub of of the helix.

Does anyone have any updates on this topic?

I was convinced enough reading this thread earlier to buy one but didnt get it till today. When I seen the thread pop back up I hoped there was more info as well. DId you not try the setup Frostbite? I thought maybe you were posting results rather than looking for more input. It will be a couple weeks before I can get out and give it a try.

where is the best place to get this spring? local dealer doesnt have one.

Doo dealer. Just don't wear your Cat coat in there unless you have a bullet proof vest under. Tee he he. They all like to take their shots.

The 2 1/8th inch hole saw is perfect and run that over the snout and the spring works in there nice an freely.

Cheers Don.

I thought the Cat Secondary spring was a 175/280? Earlier in this post someone stated the Cat Orange is a 170/305? So which one is right? When I go to funoutfitters.com and check the driven spring it says 175/280.

I have as measured

Orange spring is 224 at 2.4" and 314 at 1.375"s

The goodwin is 215 at 2.4" and 315 at 1.375"s

Like stated above you can pull out the shims and see if it lightens up the start rate. For every 1/4 inch you pull out you will drop the start rate by 22#'s and the finish rate will drop 22#s as well.

If you took .25" out of that spring stock you will end up at 202 and 292 finish.

I agree I think the orange is to stiff it just stops shifting on top,,, it will hold rpm at the expence of track speed

I have read the Speedwerx H-5 Alloy 170-270 is a great secondary spring for track speed when climbing but, I have never tried it.

Is the Orange spring still too stiff with both of the black plastic washers removed? I guess if you use take awy another 22 lbs from both rates it would have a 180 -270 spring which is almost identical to the Speedwerx spring which is so highly touted.
