Check out the Etz14C battery option for Estart sleds, only 2.5 lbs. 330 CCA. They have boosted the CCA to allow the use of a smaller battery for the first cold start in the morning. Cheaper, less ah, no low voltage protection and 1 year warranty but it is less money than the Etx36D.

If the new SHOT system proves itself to be as reliable as expected, that is going to hurt on all SERIOUS HURT on all battery systems.

Even a great lightweight Lithium battery will still weigh more than NO battery..

I totally agree with Christopher.
But if they did manage to figure out the cold weather issue. Than thats a massive step forward. Our Earth X batteries were pretty much useless at -30C
Mind you the Ucap packs that we are testing were in the 1lb+ range

Yes the Shot system should be the answer and about 20 lbs lighter but not everyone can upgrade every year and not everyone runs estart but it may be affordable (Etz14C) and will reduce battery weight by about 12 lbs.

True for doo mountain sleds. With doo patents, and SHOT requiring the new etec design, it could be a few years, if ever, for the other two OEM 2 strokes to offer something similar. Unless doo licenses it to them - alla electronic reverse (poo and AC have doo's electronic reverse as a trade/settlement to make cross infringement lawsuits go away).

Most trail riders won't give a rip about SHOT, even if they offered it on trail sleds. They want the battery to coldstart in the morning, and won't pay more for SHOT just to pull start in the morning and after sitting in Joe's pub for a few hours. If you're in the battery biz, you're safe. FWIW.
