850 Summit track damage.... opinions please!

My friend owns a 2018 Summit 850. He just discovered that his track fabric is cracking or de-laminating. The inner structure appears to be in tact.
There are no signs of rock damage or other contact damage, etc..... just signs of splitting or cracking.

I'll update this if I have missed something.

Questions:

..... Have any of you 850 owners seen or experienced this type of track damage?
..... Are any of you aware of an issue that Bombardier is addressing?
..... Does this appear to be caused from defective material?

I am anxious to hear what you guys have to say.
Thanks in advance

Yep, your track is going to fall apart like the rest of ours. You can look at my thread and see what your track will look like in the not to distant future.
I just heard back from the skidoo rep and they will not warranty mine.
The track does hook up well in the powder but apparently you can’t take it down a groomed trail without it falling apart. Just letting you know.
Good luck!!!!!

Curious- how many miles do you have on that track?

my 2017 154 G4 did the exact same thing. When I reported it there was 1200 km on the track and no they wouldn't warranty the track. it's a bit of a PITA as I'm getting ready to change the track however I'm not interested in paying BRP again for something they should have corrected.

I can relate, In my riding group of 4 we have 4 sleds with tracks that are falling apart. Last year it was the same, all 4 of our sleds did the same thing, we were hoping it would be different on the 19's than on our 18's but nope more of the same.

But hey, buy our new expert sled.

right.

Nice cut that does not look like a heat related issue , just simply a cut.

I have wrecked several tracks over the years and there just is no way to prevent it all the time. It sucks and being the wear item they are they should be way cheaper. On thing is the super light single ply tracks are simply not as tough as an old 2 ply challenger when it comes to that type of damage. And a 3 " paddle does inviting heat damage on frozen trails. If you do want to have less issues go with a 2.5" track and 20 pounds more weight will give you a 2 ply.

I know that does not fix anyones track, just trying to put out some of the reasons that we see so much track damage. By the way I just replaced mine as well. I did spin it over a sharp rock and cut of some paddles. No damage to the base , just cut the paddles clear of.
