Good morning to all the Skidoo riders! First a small bit of info my wife and I both have the new Gen 4 machines my wife rides a 2019 Freeride 154” I ride a 2018 Summit 850 154” both machines have 3” tracks. We ride mostly deep powder in southern Colorado snow has been pretty good this year we don’t ride super hard. I have heard about the belt issues on the 17 and 18 models. The freeride has a completely different belt guard it’s vented seems to fit way better and comes on and off way easier then my 2018 model so what have all you 2018 owners done to help keep belt temps down and help with belt life.

Keep the clutch surfaces clean!

Clean clutch surfaces eliminate a lot of the heat issues. Usually clean the clutches and belt about every 100 miles or so. 1,200 miles on the original belt, may put a new one on just as a preventative measure.

Just my $.02

Find out if 18 and 19 sled has motor mount recall performed

Confirm you have a good belt … there are several from SKIDOO available.

At first I would vent … its cheap

Clutch guard vent kit is $80 for 17 and 18 Summit.

OEM 850 E-Tec CVT Venting Kit Rev Gen4 861805531

or cut up existing cover

You could just cut up existing clutch cover and most remove extra plastic under hood to get air moving.

Next move

If this is not enough do clutch kit … cost about $200-400

or GRip n rip clutching kit with shims

or harder durometer poly mounts
