If you change the front skid spring make sure you get the correct spring retainers top and bottom. The stock spring has a smaller id compared to the ZBroz spring.

Does Zbroz sell those retainer? is there anywhere else I could get them?

The spring has the same part number as 2015. It should be exactly the same.

Also, suck your limiter strap down. I see way too many people that leave it in the stock position thinking the wheelies are a sign of horsepower when in fact it reduces the ability to keep the track where it is supposed to be.

Yes they do I talked to Dan today he said the viper needs new retainers.

That would have been nice to know when I ordered both of my springs. Do you know of anywhere else I can get retainers? possibly from a sled dealer?

Check with a cat dealer maybe the cat springs have the retainers you need.

Cat has changed the primary skid shock springs on the trail sleds, too bad they did not on MTX. Dual rate may be the best answer to get that initial climb up on snow and still not bottom out. I might have to test one of those dual rates.

"For 4-stroke models, a change to the 90/250-lb. spring (left, above) for 2016 replaces the previous straight 135-lb. spring on both 129- and 137-in. models."

2009 mtx nytro 153 vs 2016 viper mtx 153

nytro is easier to pick front end up than the viper. is that why it helps to change front spring in skid

I doubt it has anything to do with lifting the front of the sled... probably more about how it feels while riding. lol

So if I put the heavier 160 spring in where is a good starting point for the rest of shocks? 275llb rider 2015 viper blue and white

I am only 165 pounds and I can pick up the front of the Viper and lift skis off the ground. Stock I couldn't even budge it.

Front shocks = 70 pounds
rear skid shock = 120 pounds
Front skid shock = two full turns after spring contacts.

Pressures assume you have no weight on shocks when setting.
