Was out with every other brand of sled for the last 4 days with my 180 nytro. Mind you im a little on the light side compared to the others, none of them could keep up. Espically the long pulls with the nytro could really stretch its legs.

Closest to the nytro was a 163 rmk pro. This sled pulls hard and constant for stock. The pro got close on some of the techical pulls but still no proval.

Almost the same setup but a 270 MCX kit with tunnel dump and Barkbuster front end is 620 wet........it's real light when you're riding it :scared:

Yeah, The stock exhaust doesn't help but i like it quit.I had the barkbuster front end it didn't hold up. And you are right it doesn't feel heavy

So Chris which one you gonna have 180 or you going Big ?
Money Allowing, I am going to install the MPI Stage 1 Supercharger on "Nytro-Blue".
But it is very possible I will instal the OEM Supercharger first, and then do the upgrade to the Stage 1.

I've got the 180 push kit on my 2010 I've ridden with a stock pro rmk and a silbur turbo pro. The 180 kit vs stock pro rmk while a nice sled is no comparison my sled makes it look silly in all conditions climbing drags whatever it handily will beat it. I have turned the boost up slightly to around 10lbs though. Against the silbur turbo they are very similar in power output with a slight edge to the silbur which was running 10lbs also, but I will say I rode it and didn't like it because the power just wasn't there on the bottom like the 4stroke has. If my motor was in that sled it would be heaven though. You really can't go wrong when riding any turbo they're just addicting.

:face-icon-small-winYup they are all gettin to be good sleds, however I will say one thing about this "same hp at elevation deal" this holds true ONLY if you can make the same boost at 8000 feet as at sea level, so for a example 10 psi @ sea level requires 10% over drive, 10 psi at 8000' may require 20% od. this means a pulley change on a sc sled, now turbos really nice as you can adjust the wg to get the same boost really easy. Boosted sleds are fun. Now remember if i'm riding at 8000' with by na sled I will set it up for altitude, ie 150 psi cranking at 1000', head swap 150 psi at 8000', clutching ect yeah its a pain but it just depends on what you ride. And weight is everything in any motorsport, its always a fine balance of weight and power to get the perfect combination.

figure the nytro, 616 lbs+ 185 rider @ 180 hp = 4.45 lbs per hp
nytro +hp 616+185 @ 225= 3.56 lb hp
pro, 510+185 @ 140 hp = 4.96 lb per hp
modded pro,na 510+185@ 171= 4.06 lb hp

So pretty close all in all. just depends what you like better.

I have a buddy that has a 2011 Nytro with the MCXpress 180 kit. It makes all stock 800, 900 and 1000's look silly in the steep and deep. 180 true hp at elevation is quite impressive. After riding the boosted Nytro, it has me sold that I need a boosted sled.

So, I'm not being a smart@ss, just contemplating buying a 4stroke (cat, yami) for next season and want to know how a turbo nytro compares to a stock 800.
The stock 800 class has come a long way this past season, it used to be that you had to buy a new m8, throw a pipe/fuel box, clutching, and lightweight parts at it, and you were on a pretty good machine for $12k+. Now you can buy a stock 800 be it pol, cat, doo, and right out of the box they are outperforming or right with the 2009/2010 high dollar mods. These machines are light and dialed in. So where does the yami turbo fall in when compared.
Obviously, the 180hp is going to smoke a stock 150-160hp sled, but with a 130# weight difference, I don't think it will be by more than 10-15 ft on a deep powder climb, if not dead even. How much weight can easily be taken off the nytro while being cost effective, or do it yourself? Would you trust a yami dealer who has never done a turbo to install one of these $1500 turbos? Will the sled be 180 hp at 7-10k elev? Will it still have a warranty?

That is not a fair comparison. When the phazer came out they put a turbo on it. I took it for a day and it would wax the 800 Poo or Doo. There was a video of this a while ago. It was fairly even for the first 50' and then the little Phazer would just walk away. It was only 140 hp. I had a completely done 08 Nytro with everything lightweight,It was 595 with spare belt, tool kit etc. Trust me shaving 20-40 lbs is easy..BUT you really don't need to. The power you have @ elevation is darn near what you have @ sea level. It won't even be close. Clutching is key to getting the most out of this set-up. The ONLY problem is once you have ridden the 180 hp your mind instantly goes to 240,270, 300. It is that addictive. Good luck with your choice. PS there is a video of the new Cat turbo beating the new 800. Might be a good look for you.....Terry

Pretty sure you are out on your powerloss at altitude. No matter what you adjust on a NA sled the air is thinner and power is lost.

Here is the formula:

hp loss = elevation x 0.03 x hp @ sea level /
1000

So the pro at 8000' with a 140hp would have 106.4hp=6.53 lb per hp and your modded pro would be 5.34 lbs per hp.

Not a nytro but i ride a 07 Tapex. I rented a pro this last weekend to see what all the hype was about and was considering making the switch to a turbo pro. My max speed on the trail with about 6" of fresh on a 155 was 79mph. My turbo Climbing is 95ish mph. The stock pro was an absolute turd for power at elevation. The pro did work well tho for a stock sled, the chasis, suspension, motor just plain works. But i'll be riding the apex another year and hope there is a new yammy 4 stroke in a different chasis next year. I was actually more worn out after riding the Pro then i ever have been on my Apex.
