I'm planning for next season, wonder what works best for all around riding with a turbo nytro. I ride deep snow ( western WA ) & days not always so deep. I liked my 153 M7 better than the 162's I owned. A long track is nice but if you don't need it you don't need it !

Ive had both 153 and 162 on stock nytro's

the 153 was easier to lay over and donut and that.

now have a turbo 162, I find it easier to manipulate than the stock 153.

162 has my vote

I had a 08 Nytro with the stock 153 which was a POS as far as tracks go I switched it to a 156 extreme and really liked the size. I've got a new Nytro now and it's got the stock 153 and its still a POS track even with the turbo so I'm going with a 162 Extreme on this sled. I don't think you really notice the extra length boondockin but it comes in handy with a turbo to help keep the front end down. JMO

I would take nothing shorter than a 162 Extreme ! Don't waste your money or time with a 153 if your riding is going to be in the mountains.

I would even recommend going 16" wide . I did the switch to a 162x16x2.5 camo extreme & I noticed a big difference in floatation & if your into climbing , just my .02

15 wide all the way-- better trackspeed easier handling for boondocking and in set up snow. Love my 15 wide.

The 153 is a wild ride , great boondocking --- I did get a great deal a 156 and realy like it no need for tunnel mods on the Nytro

cheers......

There are always pros and cons -- How much of you riding is straight shoot climbing ???? Are you willing to ride a sled that is not fun for anything else when 80% of the time you don't climb shoots? There is a reason why 75% of mountain sleds sold are 153" All around fun !!!!!!
Skid set up will become more important with the shorter track.

If all you ever do is big climbs 174 no doubt 162 will do it all period.

And if you like to dance through the trees 153 - 156 is awesome, just don't be surprised if a turbo 153 beats you up a shoot because they really make speed in a climb:face-icon-small-hap

Still have the 153 maverick on mine and don't mind it at all... ridden pretty much everything right up to the 162" mark... If anything I'm goin shorter next year, 150x2.5x15 most likely.. I find the biggest disadvantage to going longer is they don't jump worth siht. I'll take track speed over flotation/footprint any day.

On the yamadoo im only running around 10/12# of boost, so not making huge power. the 162 15 wide is really pretty easy to toss around in the trees. even a bit shorter might be fun. the problem I have is even with a 162 with a relatively balanced boondocking/climbing supsension setup, if your climbing WOT with out a lot of ground speed, like going up throught the woods from a stop, it wants to come over on you bad. even with the sled rocked forward pretty hard, it wants to come over when you lay into it and are digging with the thing.

I prefer the 153. Much easier to manipulate in tight spots IMO. Went with a PowerClaw on mine and love it. I prefer boondocking to climbing the really steep stuff most of the time. The 153 just fits my riding style better. the 153 is a great match for the power of the MCX 180 on my sled IMHO. But to each his own.
