Sure looks like Ski Doo is headed in that direction. Spent a good bit of time at the Boise show tonight looking at the 850 engine cut-away display sitting next to the 800 cut-away comparing the two. The 850 eTec appears to be a more robust engine in all respects.

A factory turbo would not be out of the question.

It would be cool... but there are WAY more obstacles to putting a factory turbo on a 2 stroke compared to a 4 stroke.(of any brand)

The meme is a bit off.... the crank on the 850 is 6 pieces.

Plus, I really don't see any aftermarket kits out there much past the "beta stage"

Hate to be the doubting Thomas... but call me Tom.

But hey... Makes for great animated conversation .

If the Austrians can pull off a 2-3 lb system (16.7 - 17.7 psia MAP).... that would be amazing though.... I'd really like to see that...

A current 850 costs what... $13,000??

Add another 2-3 grand factory cost for turbo... $15k -$16k to the consumer... not sure if the validation costs etc
could be distributed across the potential customer base for a sled of that cost.

But hey... We can dream, right??

What model year is this turbo meme for?
If that's accurate, it's got to be a couple years old (ahem Polaris RZR turbo @ 143hp)

That is the last Gen turbo, the brand new one is 130+ horse and A LOT more capable for off road racing... Watch the vid.

I will be the eternal optimist here...
Good things are coming.

The very same "Naysayers" said that Yamaha would NEVER offer a factory turbo, right up till they announced it.

In just a couple months everyone will get to see the 2nd year edition of the 850, and I am pretty sure it will be well received.

Who knows what they will offer in the spring of 2018...:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap

Pretty sure it's being tested as we type in this thread.. Release we heard could of been done in 17, but decided to wait.. Motor was designed for boost

The motor was designed for boost but the chassis not so much. That bulkhead will look like Ronda Rousey with boost.

Motor seems to be built for a turbo. Some would argue they should have spent more time on making their chassis more durable though. Emissions won't be easy to meet on a boosted motor. I'm guessing we won't see it launch this spring, more than likely 2018.

Oh I'm sure they'll hurry it just like they did this belt eating bulkhead cracking minimal spare parts available short fuel range chain stretching 2017, lol. Gotta be the first to market regardless of the consumers outcome.
