Need clutching help.

Having a tough time getting the clutching good on my 15 M8000 HCR. Sled has jaws pipe, diamond s can, boyesen reeds and pcv with 2.5 timing key. Makes 180hp. I haven't been able to get the engagement rpms down. Was running what was recommended to me a black/gold speedwerxs spring (175/305) initially and the engagement was way too high. Sled just trenched like crazy trying to start out in the woods. Then switched to a white epi spring cause it was available that day (125/280) and that really didn't change my engagement much at all. Clutch also has the thunder product glide washers in it with just the glides. No extra shims. I'm trying to get my engagement closer to 3000. Also in the secondary I have a speedwerx 36/42 or 44 I'm not positive but I get a deadspot around 6500-7000 when I'm on and off the throttle on the trees and it doesn't back shift nicely. Any recommendations are appreciated. The sled has so much potential but the clutching is killing me.
Thanks

Who recommended that?? Speedwerx springs??? Sure as hell wasn't Greg, the owner of Jaws who builds pipes and raced for many, many years.
You are way to high for engagement. What are you engaging at,,,4700, 4800? of course you going to trench....
Anywhere from 4000-4200 is nice and smooth. I'm at 4070 and silky smooth.
One thing I found with my 14 is belt deflection.
It has to be bang on..

Something is hanging up in your primary if dropping from 175 to 125 initial spring rate didn't change the engagement. If you have a straight 44 helix it's not going to backshift well. I usually run a 42/36 on my 900 big bore and on setup snow I can get away with a 44/38.

That was what speedwerx reccomended with the clutch kit I purchased from them. I didn't by the pipe directly from jaws so I didn't ask them about clutching. What are you running for deflection? I'm at just over an inch.

Clutch is new and clean. Has 180 miles on it. Just disassembled it and made sure everything was moving nice. Made sure weights moved freely cause I was hoping that's what was causing the harsh engagement. I'm hoping there's something stupid I'm missing. I was told to add more tip weight to my cams. They are bmp gold stars with the magnets and for sea level I have 2-1-2-1 going from the heel to the tip.

I like to set my belt deflection so that the track crawls a bit when off the ground. About as tight as you can go.

I don't have a pipe or anything, but I'm running an slp black/silver spring (110/290) with stock 68g weights and I have a nice smooth engagement at around 3500-3600 rpm.

Text me I have some ideas.

Moving magnets will change it.

3000 is to low, 3800-4000 is what you want with a smooth engagement.

You may have to pull the spider and shim it. Have you tried a new belt.

Thanks wyo I'll text you in a bit since I'm back on eastern time. I think I have part of it figured out now. When I got to west Yellowstone two weeks ago I had to pull weight to get my rpms up since I'm clutched for sea level at home and I pulled it al out of the tip cause that's where it was easier to get out on the mountain. So I pulled a gram from the heel and added 2 to the tip and the rest in the middle holes and now I'm engaging at 34-3600 and it's much smoother.

Next question is the helix. I feel like my sled rips my arms off from 0-40 then just flattens out and slowly climbs up in speed. I don't feel like it's loading the engine enough after 40. What helix and secondary spring are you all running.

If you run too much helix at elevation, you will bog.

How many miles are on your sled? Original big fin secondary?
