Update for 0-3000ft elevation tuning:
ZRP Tailstander 85G base weight:
Added 2G to each hole initially (total 6g added) and was hitting 8100-8200 RPM on spring snow. Added 1G to tip hole (total 7G added to a total of 92G) to drop RPM a bit, now hitting between 8000-8100 RPM in a bit deeper spring snow. Going to add 1G more to tip to get between 7900-8000 RPM hopefully.

Initial impressions seem to be good, no overly crazy improvement, but the clutches do seem to be a bit cooler and slightly better throttle response and RPM consistency. Time will tell if my belt will last longer than 300 miles. Still stock secondary.

We run similar weights 85 gram base 6 grams in the bottom and 2 grams in the middle is what I like a little more positive engagement about 200 RPM lower than with the weight in the middle and tip. Also maintains the top end rpm better at the slightly higher elevation last ride was 4 to 5 thousand.
So far definitely my favourite setup, even though the SHR set up works not to bad either. Waiting for a few pieces for my second sled to go ZRP as well.

I saw a “Gen 2” version of the tailstander weights listed on their site.

I’d like to know what the difference and benefits of the second gen are but there isn’t much info on them on their site.

Our Gen 2 850 Weight saves 45g of rotating weight vs our Gen1. The profile and shift force are identical to the previous weight but with better throttle response. All of the weight savings is from behind the pivot pin; in front of the pin is identical to our Gen 1.
So new 75g performs the same as our original 90g.

Not quite getting what your saying about the weight..
So you are taking weight from behind the pin.. get that, but how does an overall lighter weight control RPM?
Wouldn’t you still have to add it back to Pin, Mid or Tip?
For 85g -87g stock sled
7-10k

Because the weight in front of the pin is exactly the same, so it produces the same amount of force into the roller.

So order the 85g for 7-10k?
I think I remember Big John liking tip weight also, so what tip weight would you recommend before installing?
Cant change tip weight on the hill right?
But can change mid weights on hill?
Thanks for the help!

Yes 85g would be best for you. I would add a 2g magnet to each hole to get to 91g and you should be about spot on for that elevation.

So I am confused:face-icon-small-dis. So the gen 2 weights won't work on a stock 850 at 7-10k. Is this a turbo weight. Empty these would be like running 90g on version 1weight?

We only have the 75g Gen 2 weight at this time which is the right weight for high elevation turbos and low elevation stock sleds.

Stock at 7-10 our 85g Gen 1 weight is the ticket!

The info is probably here but I’m probably lazy or blind so I’m asking.
ZRP. I have an 18. Stock set up I blew a belt at 300 miles. Dealer did the softer secondary spring and added weight to the bolts. I think a 2mm washer to each bolt. Sled ran stronger for rest of year. Had about 300 miles on the second belt which still looks great. Dealer did the engine mount update and primary spring update for free. I also got the new vented clutch cover set up. Have not tried those mods yet.
What would you recommend for my 18 850 175. Mostly ride 3500-6000 in heavy coastal snow for the most part. Also ride out east lol at 7000-10,000 a couple trips a year.
If you were holding my credit card right now what would you recommend for weights? Would you change either of the springs I am running?

I do not have enough data to make a complete setup recommendation for the 3-6000 range except that the optimal weight to start with for that elevation is our new 75g weight. This weight will work for the higher elevation as well but will not be quite optimal as it will need to be run empty(no magnets) to pull enough rpm at 8000ft+
