what rpm's are your cluched setups engaging at and do you like it?

is stock supposed to engage at 3700 even above 8,000'?

thanks

my current setup is stock except for a set of 10-60's and engaging at 4400-4500 rpms @7k. i ride between 7-11,000

why do you have such light weights?
stock weights are 10-64 for 6000-8000 ft

I like low rpm start, they start to grab at about 3800 or so, all you need to do is to change the primary spring seat pressure up or down to change this, lot of guys like the stock or the slp blue/pink spring, your light weights are affecting the engagement rpm btw

yes, the dealer clutched it this way for 7k and up. i have a couple spare blue/pink slp springs at the house from my old rig, so i may try those. or i could just swap the clutch. my backup has 10-62's and i have a new set of 64's so i should be able to dial it in.

i'm new to the quick drive so the noise and extra pull may be part of that.

i would put the 10-64 in there since those are stock weights up to 8K or at least the 10-62

I have ran 10-64 up to 10K and sled seems fine. I don’t know what rpms were though

I just put an SLP pipe on so thew in 10-66s

I ran the 10-64s in my 17 Axxys 163 2.6. After break in mode(18hrs I believe)it pulled 8300-8350 on trails and 8200-8250 while climbing 1-3ft of powder. This was around Togwotee 8000-10000ft elevation. Seems to have a ton of power but 2.6 doesn't seem to grab like the 154 T3 Doos I was riding with.

What's the consensus for a helix?
Running a BMP head/y/pipe with bd tune, 155 x 2.6"

With this being my 3rd year on this chassis/motor with the 2.6" track I have definitely decided that a weight with a heavy heal is best with the 40 degree helix. When going with a steeper helix you have both the helix and the weights making the sled much more aggressive and trenching when accelerating from a stop. Stock weights and stock helix really make for soft engagement and slow acceleration. Change one the other but not both. I run heavy heal weights, 40 degree helix and a primary spring that starts soft and ends heavy. In addition gearing down these sleds doubles clutch belt life and makes tree riding or climbing a deck ramp much more controllable.

This is what I'm running in my 174. I've found the 174x3 needs to be clutched lighter and with more backshift than a 163x2.6 does.

17 174 with Bikeman pipe, can, y-pipe and Bully Dog program.
8-10,000 elevation
SLP Magnum Force weight - no added weight
SLP blue/pink primary
Black/purple secondary with one dehlrin
Stock 40 helix

Pulls 8300-8400 all day long whether climbing, in the powder or down the trail. I like the stock primary spring better for low speed crawling, but peak RPM aren't as consistent as the SLP blue/pink.

Run 3 delrin washers in your secondary. I've ran 1, 2, & 3, & runnin 3 works the best. Running 1 or 2 i could always feel the secondary trying to back shift, runnin 3 i couldnt feel anything at all. One on each side of the spring & one under the spring cup.

My personal trials at 8,000 to 10,000 with stock weights.
10-60's, 140/340 primary, 56/42 with black purple made for an awesome lake racer but poor hillclimber, backshift suffered. 7,900 tp 8,100 r's. This set-up worked well in some Pro's.

10-62's, 120/320 primary, straight 40, stock primary spring, stock set-up. Decent launch, slow acceleration through the mid, good mountain set-up with good backshift up to 9,000'. Rpm's suffered at +10,000. 8,000 to 8,150 r's

10-62's with 1 gram removed from mid to tip leaving heavy heal, 120/320 primary, straight 40 with stock black primary. Decent launch, doesn't overshift, acceleration through the mid is mediocre at best, but makes for a solid mountain set-up with 8,050 to 8,150 r's in all conditions. It will hold r's well in long belt heating climbs. I've found the stock set-up is hard to improve on with the stock pipe as far as mountain clutching goes.

Some friends tried some other set-ups with 10-62 belly busters, 120/320 primary, 60/40 primary with black purple that ran very well in all conditions with SLP single. Zero to 40 is weaker than stock but 40 + is better with a solid backshift.

G, i ride the same general stuff you ride here on the shuswap, i got a 155 2.6 with jaws pipe and im currently using a compleate stock clutch other than 71 mtx slp weights that are currently empty.
I did just install a oem primary spring and had engine mounts done, both contributed to good rpm stability.
I was running 64 grm at griz last week with temps above 0 and mid way into the day i installed the 71s and was supprised i could throw that much weight and still hold 83 to 8400 and also gain 1 mph in track speed , from 44 to 45 mph.
This is the best my sled has ever run but also the pipe is new for this season.

The axys 800 motors start to retard timing at 8300. 8150 to 8250
Is the best. Mine pulled 8300 to 8400 after it broke in so I kept adding weight till the rpms came down gained 2-3 mph track speed.

Why do you think the timing starts retarding at 8300?
