850 RPM hangs

850 SKS 155. 3 hours run time at 1500 feet and 36 degrees.

Finally got out for some easy break in miles. Sled runs and starts great. Doggy for the first hour. Quick whack of the throttle would cause a bog. Switched to non-with mode and that eliminated bog. Still have rpms hanging when I let off throttle to come to a stop. Not extreme or runaway. Just hangs at 4000 for a split second and drops to 2500 and hangs again for a split second before settling at 1900 idle. Kind of unsettling when trying to do anything slow. Sled feels like it is coasting further than you expect it too.

Anyone else notice this? Thoughts?

Mine ran like a dog as well until I changed the Ethanol settings, it was instantly better and ran strong, it's amazing how much it feels like an Etec 850, 8 hours on it and if it gets better it's all good.

PTO side looks leaner. Off to the dealer.

Keep us posted
I seem to have the same “problems”
Could this just be in the 10h brake in period?

What are PTO problem symptoms?

No good plug chop done. Sled was run, loaded in trailer, brought home, unloaded and plugs pulled. Not a good plug reading. They were actually wet when pulled. The PTO side is overall lighter than the mag side, but still rich. No chance of running it on snow. Our season did a full reset. 50 by then end of the week.

Off to the dealer today.

From your description, it sounds like the pig rich problem not the other way around. My 850 seem to want you to hit the throttle to "clear out" during break in. Small blurps stutter which seems to be more of the rich problem. At 3 hours, you are not past break in. It really makes a difference after you get past 8-10 hours.

There's definitely a change after 10 hours but one of my 850's seems crisp when you let off the throttle and the other one takes forever to come down off throttle. Like to the point I have to grab the brake cause I'm not slowing down quickly enough. I know of 3 other people here locally with similar symptoms.

TPS sensor or air leak on pto seal could cause that. Or blown off oil line in crank case. (air leak)

Spray alittle starting fluid by the PTO seal, you'll know right away if it's sucking...

Mine is coming back from the dealer tomorrow unresolved. Dealer tells me seals test ok and diagnostics show sensors ok. No leak down completed. Asked dealer to contact Polaris. They were told no known issues. Get past breakin and let them know if it still an issue. About what I expected.
