Looking at 09 M1000

I'm looking at buying my first cat. I've always had polaris and really never like them. How well does the M1000 engine hold up? (It has to be better then a 900 RMK) I found one here for $8,800 with the 162 track.

Just bought an 09 M1000 myself so too early to tell from my own experience, but i have a buddy with an 07 and he has had no trouble, he has Speedwerx pipe and Boonie box etc. The only 1000 failures that i have really heard about seem to involve modded sleds burning down. All the M series motors are pretty solid. Having ridden a 900 RMK i can tell you an M 1000 is WAY better. IMHO

I have an 09 M1000 and love it. I've kept it stock other than a can and have added two extra motor mounts/shimed the motor out .120 to reduce the belt heat. Other than the belt issue I've had 1800 trouble free miles and plan on keeping it for a long time especially if they go bye bye next year!

These are great motors and an incredible sled. Has the point and shoot power but you can still carve it thru the trees!

Belts seem to be the biggest issue with this sled. I would recommend adding the additional motor mount.

Put an SLP pipe kit and intake on it and jump up 25hp.. It's a bad *** sled for sure.

The 09 m1000 is a sick sled, But there are some things that must be done to make it work properly. Add the motor mounts, SLP (single pipe) and can. The stock fuel map sucks. You must control the fueling on this sled, If you want optimum performance. There is a lot left on the table from the factory with this bad boy. Run an air fuel gauge.

The Suzuki motors are pretty solid. You can squeeze alot more power out of the 1000 which is nice. I swore I'd never ride a cat but jumped on board after my RMK900 days, too. Come to the other side, dude, it's not that bad. :face-icon-small-hap Hopefully you'll be getting some warranty with that $8800 so Arctic Cat can cover all of their other issues like DD failures, clutch spiders breaking, ECU failures, Pipe temp sensors breaking, etc.

What kind of prices are you guys seeing on 08, 09, 10 M1000's right now?

I'm thinking about buying one for a 'backup sled / future project sled' ...

But, the local dealer told me he wanted $11,000 for a 2009 holdover M10 standard edition 162" .... which is the one I want, I dont want the sno pro if I can avoid it.

Did the std versions have the inner idler wheel kit on them, I cant recall?

Yeah, brand new 2009 holdover M1000 std 162" ... seemed pretty high to m at $10,900 or something around there ....

Is that reasonable?

I bought the same exact sled last month brand new for $8600 + tax in Colorado. There are better deals out there for you. Just need to search around and possibly willing to drive.

You will love it, the 09 is about 20 lbs lighter than an 08. I love my 09 more everytime I ride it.

I switched out to the M8 belts. And have hundreds of miles on the first one. Your clutches are not aligned, buy the tool.

I bought my 08 M1000 162 snopro from eagle river Arctic cat for 8600.
Where can I get one of these aftermarket motor mounts and shim my motor over? I go thorough a belt every ride and it is really breaking the bank!!!.. six belts this season at 120 a pop and my sled is BRAND NEW. FML

I called the dealer and he told me that clutches are a "wear item" and alignment is not covered under warranty. Great stealership values.
