do you have to runs a new clutch with the brass ring on behind clutch or can u leave it off

Good question, I've always wondered what its for. Try it and see what happens.
I've had mine off from day one on my '05 M7, never had a problem, and have run it that way for many years now. I don't know why it's there, but I figure less rotating mass is always good and that's why mine is off.
