First ride impressions

Rode around the house a little yesterday.

Very light handling and easy to ride.

Instant weight transfer with minimum throttle application.

Bike is balanced on the pegs with rider weight.

Details to be completed

Brakes (none currently)
Rear snow deflector.

Hopefully get a good test run in better snow one day this week.

My ebay scale should show up Tuesday to weigh the pig. ?

Your fabrication/customization skills are impressive.

I'm curious, how did the R6 "blow up?"

Parked under the eaves of the garage and we got a short warm spell.
(Pre filter exposed on the top of the airbox let water into the motor)

2 days later when it was -10F i drug it inside to thaw out and had to pull spark plugs to spray water everywhere. *♂️*♂️

I’m guessing something in the bottom end is cracked from freeze expansion.

It still ran (after 3 consecutive oil changes) but developed a persistent knock and shut itself off multiple times mid ride.

I basically lost confidence in its reliability.

On a side note this 636 has WAY more low- mid range power.
(And 20 ish peak hp. :)

Interesting suspension design , so the " kit " is rigid ( but has a rocker effect to follow the terrain ) and operates as a swing arm using the bikes shock.

How well does this design work ? I could see this being a weight saving design over all VS the TSS setup that takes 3 shocks to control the ride and get the travel that your setup gets with one main shock and a single skid shock that's only controlling transfer.

I really like the setup and your doing a great job.

Go hit the snow up north, we got a good foot plus this last week and was still coming down when we left last night. Should be able to make some nice pulls and see how it runs.:face-icon-small-coo

Weight is very very close to what my hawk is. Hp sorta close (rmk 700 engine) Would love to get them side by side and see how they do.

Not an all out which is better but just a comparison of weight transfer and gyro effect cvt vs standard tranny.

That skid is sweet!

Nice work! Looks like it’s going to be a hoot to ride in the open areas.

We end up riding deep snow way too often to sit around on a 450 /137 slow donkey.
When you can barely get 100’ up the side of a tree infested slope with multiple sidehills back and forth...........

Plain and simple.
More power and more track is in order......

Progression as follows.
Homegrown custom build doo 800r powered bike with 155x12x3 track. = awkward beast that climbs ok but extreme gyro effect (harder to turn than a sled)

300 2t w 14 ts st. = underwhelming
14 yz450f w same. = some fun but old tech.

Splurge on a 16 sxf450 and 18 aro 120. = fun on minimal powder (good handling) but trenches worse than the 14 ts st.

04 R6 w ts LT 137x 2.5. = fun bike in minimal powder but still very limited in climbing ability, weight penalty noticeable.

Once i get more time on this thing we’ll see what’s next. ?

Curious what you did for the front end- were you able to fit dirt bike forks into the stock triples or did you have to get creative with the stem and bearings to make a dirt set of triples work?
Also wondering about the exhaust since most street bikes that I'm aware of have a low-mounted exhaust but yours exits up high similar to a dirt bike.
