My sled has approx. 1800 miles. I've read a few threads about some 4 tower clutches flying to pieces with low mileage? Is this a common thing with the 4 tower clutches? Is the 3 tower any better?

only some 4 tower have been going but they are kewl because you can have 2 different wieghts in it. it all just depends on if you like to clutch alot. and if your clutch goes cat sends you a 3 post

Staggering weights will accelerate failure. I believe all 4 post clutches will fail, get a 3 post on there just in case. It is a bad deal when the spider breaks 50 miles from the truck.:beer;

SO.....Has anyone started making weights for the 3-post that are over 93g's?

I have a 1200 and I need over 280g's total. I was also told I would need a 4-post if I added a turbo. I bought a 3-post but I'm still using my 4-post with no problems so far.

I think there was other issues with the 4 tower, It wasent as efficent as a 3 tower because of the extra slides on the towers.

I'd give Cutler's a call and ask their advise. Shape of the weight and the spring you use has a lot to do with how much to throw at it.

I have a 1200 as well and broke my spider and had to limp it out. I would switch, everyone that i know with a 4 post has broke theirs. If your total weight for a four post is 280g it will be different with the three post, they are heavier, you have to re clutch when you put your three post on.

Cat stopped using the 4-tower because of supplier issues (Comet), it also does have a higher failure rate. that being said, the 3 towers aren't know for there amazing relability either. You should be able to find one for WAY cheaper than $500 too. Brand new all over ebay for around $250. I do believe the three tower is a better clutch though and much easier to find parts for as well.
