I don't think its the install itself, it was the amount of heat tape they were saying to apply that scared me off. They are probably just being cautious, but it gave me the impression that the can runs awful hot.

Just read the install instructions for their new pipe. All I can say is too bad I don't own any stock in a heat tape manufacturer. :)

After reading the instructions I'm pretty sure you install the heat shield on the inside of the belly pan, but you install the rivets from the bottom of the belly pan (belly pan then shield).

Oh look a company that actually did some R&D, looks like too much work better just bolt on the competitor that is pumping their units out. SLP is one of the few companies that only sells ceramic coated exhaust, if they're saying you need more heat insulation then you guys running non-coated parts should be concerned.
