Looking at renting a house near Turpin meadow resort. Has anyone been in that area. We usually base out of Togwotee mountain lodge but need more room and would like to save a few bucks. We like the amenities of Togwotee for gas/food etc. how far is Turpin meadow from Togwotee and is there good riding close to Turpin meadow or do you have to head to Togwotee for the good riding areas? Trying to avoid 50 miles of trails to get to good riding. Thanks in advance for any info.

Have stayed in that general area twice. We trailered up to the lodge and rode from there.

Stayed at Turpin 7 or 8yrs ago, no boondocking off trail allowed until you get up to Tog Mtn Lodge, about 8 miles by trail one way. Not a bad warm-up, cool down ride. We would gas up each morning at Tog Mtn Lodge to start the day off full. Way easier than trailering up to lodge though, that would take 30min+ one way...Hope this helps!

Off subject but ... Lava Mountain Lodge ????
What about it? I stayed there 3 times last year. Riding area not as busy as up Tog Mtn Lodge, less tracks. Food was way overpriced! Captive Audience... there kitchen Grill vent, was inoperative all season last year, so they had limited food choices. Probably fixed by now, that was down from December through March last year. They don't seem to be very friendly unless you were staying at lava Mountain Lodge ,We stayed at a cabin just across the street, got the stink eye when we came over for breakfast, told us that breakfast was for guests only, so plan accordingly. But they do have gas and a small little shop to repair something if you would happen to break. Overall a decent little place and not as busy and expensive as togwotee Mountain Lodge.

Ya haven't heard great things about lava mountain lodge. Stopped there during the week a few years back for lunch but apparently they do not serve lunch during the week. The lady there was not helpful at all, after about 15 minutes of awkwardly staring at our group as we filled gas she finally told us to go to brooks lake lodge for lunch which was fabulous. We are looking for a private place near Togwotee Mountain Lodge

Yea, TML is crazy expensive, we are also looking for other lodging options near the lodge, any smaller houses or cabin rentals that are reasonable??

You won't find any houses/cabins close to Togwotee. It's all Natl. Forest until you drop off the pass probably 15 to 20 miles either direction.
