AKfullthrottle and I did some testing last year with the Indy Specialties Clutching and their T1, T2, and T3 weights. We ended up loving this setup. We’re able to drop from 86 grams to 77 grams when it was all said and done and clutch temps are mucho better!!

Does any one have a good baseline setup for Indy dans clutch kit with t3’s

I’m running Silber Turbos 5# of boost on a 2017 AXYS 155”x2.6” with a Kurts Off-road gear down kit. I’m mostly riding around 2000-2500’ elevation and am at the following for Clutching:

T3 weights - 77 grams
140/310 primary spring
140/220 secondary spring
MTN X 1 helix from IS.

Currently pulling 8100 RPM’s. The gear down kit and the light weight stuff I’m guessing has changed my Clutching. But that clutch setup with a sled that only has a turbo on it will pull 8400 RPM.

5# wastegate spring or 5# of boost pressure?

I’m running the 5# wastegate spring but should be damn close to that for my boost as well.

I have plumed a boost gauge and checked the 3# and 5# wastegate springs. The 3# spring actually read #5 of boost and the 5# was 7-8#.

My 7# on my VDO gauge reads 7.5 and the #5 lb reads just a shade ( needle thickness) over 5

I have a VDO gauge too. Where is your boost reference from? What is the color of your Watergate spring? What elevation range?

I haven't ran across anyone locally to compare. Thanks

I have ran a VDO as well, Tee'd from the BOV reference line. It was always within .5 if not spot on. This was at 0-4000'

Right! I haven't ridden this yet. 15 SBA 144x2 to a 163 axys 163 pro silber @ 7. I'm stoked.
Have you rode any of those clutch mods yet?

As AK said, from the BOV reference line - I ride 8,000 to 11,000 elevation.
My waste gates springs don't have any color anylonger..LOL -but after 2 seasons know which spring is what.

Plus the older ones were not full colored like the blue 5 pound, they only had a stripe which went away. I know by size

Weird, I ride 6k-9k. I have been running the Brown/Black Spring since day one. It is a 3lb spring. I have ran my boost gauge just like both of you said. Mine is at the end of the line close to the BOV. Not sure where yours is tee'd in at. I see 5 pounds of boost everytime I go out. VDO gauge.

It says on turbosmarts site that it is an inner spring. It also says their 5 pound spring is a brown/grey spring. It says it is also an inner spring. The 7 pound spring is a middle spring and is a brown/purple. I have never personally seen a fully painted blue spring or ran one.

I have had this kit on this same Axys since 2016 too. Here is a data sheet showing all of this. The "know by size" for a 3 pound and a 5 pound would not work with this. Only be able to tell the visual difference between a 3/5 and a 7. At least with Turbosmart springs? And, like I said I have never seen a fully painted blue spring.

The 5 is longer than the 3, why could I not know by size?

Not sure why they have been coming blue lately but they have, Only the 5.

I would say mine is closer to the engine, near the actual reference.

This is not the first time I have heard actual boost is more than spring pressure. I just have never personally seen it. I mean if the WG diaphragm leaks at all it could cause more boost but I am not saying that's what is going on. Like said I have heard this before.

Mine is within 5" of the BOV itself- just wanted to see what it was seeing for a good point of reference.

Just checked a new Kit I have here in the shop.
3# is Solid black, shortest of all.
5# and it's Solid blue.
7# Purple stripe only.
