Does anybody have any first hand experience with a Kpa 2860 vs kpa 2863 turbo? I'm upgrading my turbo this year but not sure wich route to go. The 2863 is about $800 more, with that you get a billet wheel (as compared to cast) and the option of a stainless center section. Is it worth the extra cost for the 2863?

I owned a 2863 KPA. Honestly didn't really notice much difference between it and a KPA 2860 on a friend's Pro. IMO not worth the coin, but I don't remember it being $800 difference?! I thought it was like $200 for the billet wheel. Usually there is no price difference in size of the turbo within the same series.
See the website for the price difference:

I have tested both and find the 2860 to be more responsive off idle and the 2863 tends to have a little more once your at peak RPM. We considered using the 2863 for all the kits but when we conducted a blind test 90 percent of the folks chose the 2860 thinking they had picked the 2863 :face-icon-small-hap

If you have a silber reflash kit the mapping is optimized for the 2860 and that what I would go with.

Either way send me a PM and we can discuss options if you like.

What is the deal with the 2863 turbo on your guys kit this year? Is it different than the 2863 your talking about here? If so how, and why did you go with it over the 2860?

I Have tested every turbo I can get my hands on. Both on my sled and on the rzr's

The kpa 2863 zinger out performed every turbo on time to spool, Time to torque, and back pressure until we got up to 25 lbs on the rzr's

the 2863z has a 14 gram lighter compressor wheel over the cast 2860. it has the same inducer, same major, and 3 mil extended exducer. the turbo spooled at 174000 r's at 12 lbs the cast only got to 169000. with that much rpm it will produce alot more cfm per pound of boost. this shows that the 2863 has benefits. the 2862 is only $200 more and is worth every penny imo.

the kpa 2863 had faster spool up over the garrett gtx 2863 and out performed until 25 lbs. then the garrett took over until 30lbs. but the back pressure on the garrett was through the roof. the garrett went 1-1 onthr back pressure at 12 lbs. where the kpa never went 1-1 until 20.
garrett was producing more backpressure and heat. this is my independent study.
take it for what it is worth :face-icon-small-ton

even the Garret 2860gtx? how was the test performed? and how much of a difference in time? and to what boost?

Not bashing your results or questioning. My only concern is every kit is set up different. You may see different results with one turbo on your sled vs another. Make sense? You prefer to run a 2871 on your pro's and the 63 is suppose to have the spool of a 60 and power of a 71.

Is the KPA a direct swap for the 60GTX? I believe it is correct? Send me one this winter we will test it.:face-icon-small-hap I have 6 buddies with 60 GTX's.

FWIW the difference cast vs billet wheel (apples to apples):

- billet is lighter than cast
- billet is stronger , so you can make it thinner , more aerodynamic , more creative with blade geometry.
- Smaller center hub with billet so you get more surface area.
