Trying to decide what all to buy and my brain is mush from searching...

I found a deal on this helix but wanted to hear some opinions, here is what I am planning please feel free to critique this!

4000-8000ft
2006 900 RMK 166 stock with a can, rad delete
1115 belt, shim removed from primary to get .020"
11-68 matched at 69.4 grams each
Polaris Almond 140-320
Or* SLP black/yellow 120-310 to lower engagement
19/42 gears or 18/40?
Helix 68-44 .46ER??
Red/pink spring

What do you boys figure??

Setup looks fine, but the 68 degree initial in that helix is not necessary. You can easy find 66, or 64 but ideally we discovered a few years ago that the 58 what best for the 900 torque or help reduce trenching etc.

Don't forget to get a new team black/white secondary spring

Thanks for some up to date information!

Thanks... Ive read so damn much in the past 2 weeks or so that its getting overwhelming and its tough to tell what may be the most correct.

I purchased a 66-44 .46 / 66-40 .46 NON ER and a 72-48-46/70-46-46 ER on ebay so I will have to stick with this as a trial for this trip and see what happens.

I inherited an SLP Pipe and ECU from another 2006 900 RMK I just have to swap them out on my sled... Hope its worth the time to do that as it is free.

So my setup has changed a bit but from my reading here is what I am looking at starting with...

* 11-74 weights matched or MTX as recommended from SLP (Will I need to reshim the primary if i go to MTX from 11 series?)

* Polaris Almond (140-320) or SLP Black/Yellow (120-310)

* Dynamic balanced primary (done in individual pieces)

* 66-44 .46 Helix or run the 70-46-46 ER to have reverse

* Black white secondary spring as you recommended? or leave the stock black red, or use a red/pink with 2 washers in the cup?

*Gearing was planned to be 19-42.

Thoughts?

Def get the black/white spring got the secondary. The stock spring is too weak and allows belt slippage which creates heat which creates BOOOM..

I wouldn't bother with the 11 series weights. The mtx weights are awesome and much better imo.

Rest is ok. That 70 degree helix is ok for trail but pretty steep

11 series

Not sure if I want to spend the cash for new MTX's at this time as I already own the other weights but for sure ill get the black/white secondary. Eventually that will be the ones I run, but for now do you think that 11-74 is too much for 4-7000ft spring time riding?

You will have to research the altitude for the 11 series weights. I'm pretty sure they are diff "weight" when compared to the 10 series so not sure the specifics on them. I knw the mtx run 4g heavier so run 74g mtx when u need 70g..

Compare your results to the slp weight chart for the pipe setup.

Then also research if u need to reshim the primary or not. Sry I don't knw this info

I think the 11 series run 2grams heavier, and I had to reshim the clutch after I put them in yes.

Ok, I will have a look at that chart and try make a decision here soon :)

what is best in place of the MTX weights?

Ok so for 3000-6000 ft with the SLP pipe they want 74g MTX with a 3g rivet in the outer hole.

New MTX weights are $170 CDN! I have 11-68's, and 11-74's so would either of these be ok? If not what can I use besides the expensive mtx's?

Yeh just try the 11-74 and see what ur max rom is..as long as it pulls good, doesn't over rev or bog down. But I think u will be close. Save up and get the right ones and own it

Good idea... got into the Ecu/pipe swap and noticed the injector colour was red on the slp flashed Ecu and yellow on my stock sled so from what I have read I would be running 2.5%ish leaner using a red Ecu on yellow injectors. Looks like I'm back to a stock powered setup for this trip. Maybe look into buying a flash from slp over summer if that's even possible for a used pipe set? That or getting a yellow injectors Ecu with slp flash from someone on here.

It's possible, call slp and tell them you burned out your ecu and you have a replacement that needs flashed for ur injector and they will do it most likely. Or ask your dealer to flash it, most can do the slp

Apparently the dealership in my city doesn't do flashes, too many screw ups they say? LOL what they are really saying to me is that "We here are too damn stupid to operate this computer flash thingy". I will talk to SLP and see what they say!

If not I guess the options are to run it as is or swap out the injectors as well. With an oz of oil in every tank (Thanks Guido :) )
