Just trying to figure out if its just me or if this really is the worst riding year in Washington history? I have personally been riding sleds in this state since 1987 and cannot remember the snow or lack there of, ever being this bad...

I know that the 04-05 season pops into my head as pretty bad, but I am not sure that it was even this bad?

What is everyone else's thought's about this year... Is this the worst?:frusty:

I've been riding since '99 and I am inclined to say yes. But I can only speak for SW WA. Several times a lackluster start but, usually by early March snow totals were making a rapid comeback. There is still time but that window is getting smaller.

Worst

Been in the mountains (that I can remember!) since 1960, sledding since 1968. To this point in March this is about the worst, however by the end of March it always stated snowing - even in the worst years. We will have to see what happens the last week of this month to decide if this is the all time worst.

Somebody referred to 1949?
Mom says 1949 was followed by record snows the next few years. And an earthquake, so stay tuned - there is always some action in the PNW!

I posted this about a month ago on Facebook... I imagine the average has only gotten worse since then since it's only snowed once in the last 6 weeks.

With the total lack of snow this year.. here's some hard numbers to consider..... :face-icon-small-fro

01-29-15 Pigtail Peak (White Pass) 5800' 20:00 40"
01-29-14 Pigtail Peak (White Pass) 5800' 20:00 80"
01-29-13 Pigtail Peak (White Pass) 5800' 20:00 96"
01-29-12 Pigtail Peak (White Pass) 5800' 20:00 116"
01-29-11 Pigtail Peak (White Pass) 5800' 20:00 79"
01-29-10 Pigtail Peak (White Pass) 5800' 20:00 72"
01-29-09 Pigtail Peak (White Pass) 5800' 20:00 89"
01-29-08 Pigtail Peak (White Pass) 5800' 20:00 119"
01-29-07 Pigtail Peak (White Pass) 5800' 20:00 100"
01-29-06 Pigtail Peak (White Pass) 5800' 20:00 139"
01-29-05 Pigtail Peak (White Pass) 5800' 20:00 29"
01-29-04 Pigtail Peak (White Pass) 5800' 20:00 115"
01-29-03 Pigtail Peak (White Pass) 5800' 20:00 66"
01-29-02 Pigtail Peak (White Pass) 5800' 18:00 127"
01-29-01 Pigtail Peak (White Pass) 5800' 18:00 54"
01-29-00 Pigtail Peak (White Pass) 5800' 18:00 112"

Only 1 year in the last 15 has had less snow, and the average for this day over the last 15 years is 89.5625". This means that we are currently at 45% of average snow-pack for today's date.
