Default Black Sludge

I have a 2000 Trail RMK 550. The pull cord got very difficult to pull, but after multiple pulls it would run pretty good. It seemed easier to start after I got it run the first time. I final took it to my mechanic, he found these black sludge in the bottom end. He said he had never seen anything like before and had rented that same for a number of years. He said that luckily Polaris but drain plugs in that model. I have only run Polaris 2-stock oil. Everything seemed to be working a lot better for a while. But as winter was coming to close it seemed the problem was coming back. Can anyone tell me what I can suggest to the mechanic to be looking for?
